Charles Feelgood

Biography

I really like to see people having a great time on the dance floor. I am so glad that I can be a part of that.  ~ Charles Feelgood   Point blank, Charles Feelgood loves music and even more, he loves sharing it with his fans. The man prides himself on his ability to connect with his audience – through a wicked combination of his exuberant personality and his exquisite ability to know what fills and keeps a dance floor pumpin’.  His rise to dance music infamy dates back to his humble beginnings as the leading force behind the Baltimore / Washington DC electronic music scene. Alongside his partner, and fellow DJ, Scott Henry, Feelgood launched Fever, which for nearly a decade became one of the most sought after events for touring DJs from around the world.  It was the days after...

DJ CRAZE

DJ CRAZE
Turntablist

Biography

Craze’s life is a legacy of rags to riches, geek to chic, no-name to world fame. He never had it easy – from fleeing battle in Nicaragua at the age of 3 to a geeky adolescence to Hurricane Andrew hitting Miami in 1992 – nor did have ever have any coattails to ride; his is a story that’s an uphill battle, but a story that ends right at the top. “My mom always taught me I could do anything I put my mind to. So when she asked what I wanted to do with my turntables, I told her, ‘Be the best DJ in the world,’” Craze casually laughs. And that he proved – 3 times at the DMC World Championships, an unprecedented record, and a title that no other solo DJ has yet to match. While Craze is regarded internationally and unquestionably as one of the best scratch DJs in the world, it’s still...

Jesse Rose

Biography

A true pioneer, Jesse Rose is responsible for twisting the template of house music as we know it. Born at the tail end of the 1970s in London’s Ladbroke Grove, as a young boy Jesse was raised on a healthy dose of Motown, soul, jazz and eighties funk. Neighbour

Biography

One part sexy robot and one part aerobics instructor, 25 year old Matt Dauncey has managed to find the middle ground between music and athletics. Photek

Biography

Photek stands mercilessly on the edge. A sonic scientist, pushing both his sounds and fans’ expectations to the outermost limits since 1994, he floods the footnotes of electronica like MP3s clutter up your hard drive.

He was there when Goldie declared it drum & bass but to this day he still prefers the term jungle. He chats regularly with James Lavelle, wondering what would’ve become if his remixes of Attica Blues had led to a more affirmed relationship with the agenda setting Mo Wax. His major label link with Virgin is the blueprint of how things once were; endless time and budget-free worries led to ‘Modus Operandi’. A conceptual experiment of time and emotive atmospherics, it pushed the drum & bass template to the edge. Previously misinterpreted as a lone paranoid soldier, a...

Smalltown DJs

Smalltown DJsT & A Records, WESC, Calgary

Biography

If your ears work, you can’t not have fun at a Smalltown DJs gig. That’s a scientific fact. Look it up. The Canadian duo’s uncanny ability to make crowds feel like schoolkids at recess stems naturally from their focus on maximizing fun for themselves.
“We’re just out to consistently have the best time possible,” says Pete Emes, who shares space behind the decks with partner Mike Grimes.  This fun maximization philosophy is the unifying force behind the Smalltown’s genre-warping club sets, which cover vast musical territory but never veer from the good times vibe.
Smalltown DJs began in 1999, when Emes and Grimes started playing records out together. Before long the duo had launched Hai Karate, a weekly Thursday smash-up that’s still going strong. Now in its twelfth...
