His is a name that is synonymous with mastery of the electronic genre, and his chronic beats have fallen upon the ears of those stretching from England, Germany, Mexico, the United States of America and across his native Canada.
Having mastered his craft alongside some of the most prolific names in the industry, Eddie has pursued and perfected a passion that has coursed through his veins for over 16 years, playing shows around the world. My name is Andrew Sherry, I am 24 years of age. Music, and musical instruments have always been a huge part of my life. Electronic music has always fascinated me with it’s rapid evolution, and out of this world sounds, and capabilities.
In 2010 I was fortunate enough to have been apprenticed by my dear friend DJ Kenzie Clarke. I quickly caught the hang of it and was immediately addicted. I had my first gig within 4 months of stepping behind the tables at Lucky Bar, opening for BUSTA, and MR. Smith.
Over the past year I have played quite a few a gigs in Victoria, Vancouver, and Whistler. Some memorable gigs over the past year have been, The media club in Vancouver, 919 opening for LA Riots, holding down NYPD(Thursdays) at Lucky Bar for 3 months, Maple room for blackout at the Strath, OH GREAT Mondays with Wax, MR Smith vs the Shrew episodes at Lucky Bar on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
From Disco, Breaks, Electro, House, Dubstep and DNB I love it all and have a knack for knowing what the crowed wants to hear. You can expect to keep your feet moving, head banging and have the urge to want more.
My future plans for djing are to continue to enjoy it, and learn. I would like to increase the amount of shows that I play out of town, and will be starting to take over Friday Evenings, and Saturday Evenings at Lucky Bar with Chris Longshanks.
The Beat Junky, Nick, has always had a love for music and dancing; finding Break Dancing in 1983, he began teaching, and competing on Vancouver Island. With this fueling his passion for the arts he grew to appreciate the many Genre’s of
Electronic music. He began on home CD players in 1995; mixing Techno, House and Industrial, and progressed to turntables in 1996, primarily mixing Drum and Bass on vinyl. He now plays on Serato, joining the modern age both technically and
musically. Harostraight, Emma, has been playing the violin since the age of 10. She received her Bachelors in Music from Queens University, and now plays with the Cowichan Consort Orchestra and Choir, as well as many other small ensembles in the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. She began playing with The Beat Junky in 2008 and has enjoyed the musical challenge of playing a Classical instrument with an Electronic genre very much.
The Beat Junky has played all over Vancouver Island, on the Main Land, as well as the Gulf Islands. With the formation of the Temple of Gong (T.O.G.), a small group of DJ’s that would ‘renegade’ parties, The Beat Junky was able to establish himself as a DJ. The Beat Junky’s genres include, among the many: Drum-n-Bass (Raga, Jungle, Jump-up, Techstep, Hardstep, Liquid funk, Grime and now Drumstep & Halfstep); Dub-step; and Glitch-hop. If it has a broken beat he is not far away! As well as being a full time Dad, he is also a body piercer in Duncan, at Mike’s Tattoos; however Nick will not let life get in his way, for there is a new Beat on the rise, ready for anything that this industry has to offer him. Playing at VEMF, with Harostraight, will be an honor and one of our last performances together before she leaves for Medical School in the fall. Peace and love to all – bring your dancing shoes for this will be a performance to remember! J

Born and Raised on Vancouver Island, Fitch has had plenty of time to study the local music scenes and find what makes the local crowd go nuts. When he was 12 years old Fitch found his grandmas old record players. Hooking each record player up to a separate stereo, Fitch had his first DJ set up. Over the next few years Fitch started to DJ at Raves and House Parties until he turned 18 and moved to Alberta to start in the clubs. Playing multiple residencies and club events over his two year tour of Alberta, Fitch made a name for himself with his unique mixing and live mashups. Remixing on the fly and playing the dirtiest in Electro-House mixed with Top 40, Rock, Hip Hop, and Dubstep, Fitch’s sets appeal to a wide range of audiences and leaves them begging for more. Feeding off the ecstatic energy of the crowd, Fitch adapts his mixing style and music to the type of venue and crowd - always offering a unique experience every time he visits. Wanting to broaden his horizons Fitch started to produce house music and released multiple original tracks, pulling inspiration from some of his favourite artists such as Lazy Rich, Soulfix, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Hirshee, and many more. Releasing over 10 singles including remixes of Rihanna, Daft Punk, Black Eyed Peas, and Deadmau5. Rocking the Victoria scene for the past 2 years, Fitch has started to grow popularity with the locals and is due to start his residency at two of the hottest clubs over the summer. Over the past 18 months Fitch has used his talents to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society by putting on 7 fundraisers at various clubs in Victoria and is planning for more in the future.

Mr. Goodcat’s been deep in the music scene since his early teens. His interest in electric and acoustic guitar shifted when he got his first taste of electronic music in 2008, and from there history writes itself. Moving from the small party scene to performing at large venues in front of even larger crowds, he’s blessed the stage with well known BC rappers like Snak the Ripper and Mad Child (of Swollen Members fame), and the Outlawz. You can expect a fresh blend of bass heavy dub, dnb, breaks, electro and funk, that’ll keep the dance floor jumpin’
Dubstep DJ, producer, and radio host Synba regurgitates the massive tunes flowing through his head, and he doesn’t play anything that doesn’t destroy his own personal sense of sanity. “Listening for 8 hours a day for the rest of my life I could only scratch the surface of the amazing musical content out there! I’ve always had eclectic taste; finding where the extremes resonate and where craziness becomes music is my favorite part.” Born on Vancouver Island he spent his early years involved in multiple musical and theatrical projects. While in high school he was given the keys to a professional theatre and sound system. As his seat in the classroom was often found empty, he could be found in the theatre working with dancers, musicians, and visual artists alike. He now spends his days in search of the sound that supplements your pulse.

Founded in Sun Peaks, British Columbia in 2011, Two half robot minds collided, one as a student, one as a teacher, to create an earthquake-like energy. D-FUNKT, (Koric) holding 25+ years of musical experience of all kinds, shared the art of mixing music digitally with newcomer DJ CRASCOURSE (Lange). Shortly after passing on the skill of mixing and partyrocking, D-FUNKT & CRASHCOURSE as a duo, began playing live dj events together. It wasn’t before long that the energy created by these two started becoming more and more ridiculous and entertaining. After multiple shows played together, a few beers, and a couple smashed ideas, “Perv ‘Stache” was born. “It’s always nice to see the DJ’s dancing as hard as the party people on the dancefloor..” is something that’s said and appreciated about Perv ‘Stache. These two electronically influenced men are here to deliver straight goods, laughs, witty punchlines, and so much bass it would make any fisherman jealous. If your opportunity comes up to party with these two sleeze machines, grab them a drink, flash them a smile and a high five…you’ll be friends forever. You might even get to go for a ride in their van after the show…..

Fronted by the enigma that is :DT:, a visceral crowd-mesmerizing vocal powerhouse capable of hypnotizing thousands of people and holding them in the palm of his outstretched hand, guiding them through the journey that is the Wordclock experience.
Backed by the entity known as Renfield, part man, part machine and possibly of alien origin. Little is known about Renfield, and what is known is rarely spoken out loud. He stands behind his wall of technology and ushers in the soundtrack too humanities utter destruction and de-evolution, setting it too a pulsing, pounding beat.
In short, Wordclock is explosive Post-Apocalyptic Cinematic Industrial music. They will show you the future, for this is 2012, the dawning of a new age, and the Wordclock is ticking like a timebomb, ready to explode.
Ryan Cain (ThatsDeep) sees music as a universal language, or the only language there is. Born with a natural melodic pulse in his body into a multicultural habitat filled with wide ranges of music, ThatsDeep believes in transcending barriers and remaining based to eliminate set conventions. Blending his background in Funk, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop with his love of Purple Crunk and UK Funky, ThatsDeep finds it difficult to place himself within a genre, often referring his sound to future styles and bringing the sexy back.
Raised in one of Calgary’s most diverse neighbourhoods by equally eclectic parents, ThatsDeep grew up in the midst of funk filled backyard parties and multicultural friends. Where music of genres from all over the globe flowed, he managed to enhance his already developing melodic palate. Throwing his first show at the age of twelve, it was evident that he was an old soul, rich with rhythm.
After a brief stint in the fashion industry, ThatsDeep became an integral part in Calgary’s music and nightlife scene as he began promoting and throwing events and showcases for artists he felt passionate about. With a focus on unique venues, mind blowing sounds, and a sense of community, ThatsDeep opened the doors for many to the ever growing bass scene, despite challenges of introducing the new and unknown.
ThatsDeep made his return to the decks in 2009 with a weekly residency dubbed ‘Cold Chillin’ wednesdays at Bungalow Lounge in Calgary, followed by playing alongside TheRinseOut crew for their Friday night bass party, ‘Modern Math’. After making Victoria his new habitat, he has since been seen at Whitebird Lounge, The Reef Restaurant, Touch Lounge and Hush Nightclub.
ThatsDeep believes in striving for truth, knowledge, and using the power held deep within us to stay in the light. As the world sees more battles with the dark side, he sees music as an essential tool in obtaining these goals. His sexy, cosmic sounds hold an unpretentious welcome to anyone from anywhere as he invites you to join his journey into the deep end.
A true pioneer, Jesse Rose is responsible for twisting the template of house music as we know it. Be it through his genre bending productions, DJ performances across the planet, remixing some of the biggest dance acts around (Major Lazer, Underworld, Simian Mobile Disco etc.), or as a label boss A&Ring; the freshest talent in electronic music, Jesse has one of the most revered profiles in the scene.
Born at the tail end of the 1970s in London’s Ladbroke Grove, as a young boy Jesse was raised on a healthy dose of Motown, soul, jazz and eighties funk. From humble beginnings, and with solid determination, Jesse began making music at the tender age of 14. Moving to Bristol in the early 90’s, he was soon DJing and running club nights together with his close friend Jamie Anderson, and quickly earned a reputation as an up and coming talent.
By 1997, Jesse was ready to make the move back to London, subsequently meeting the man that would truly change him from DJ to producer: Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor. Their first collaborations caught the eye of key Chicago house producer Derrick Carter, leading to a string of releases on his ‘Classic’ label. Jesse’s work on Switch’s ‘Dubsided’ saw the development of the house genre by mixing & dropping sounds from other genres instead of mere looping, resulting in some of his biggest hits such as ‘A-Sided’, ‘You’re All Over My Head’ and ‘Touch My Horn’. Jesse learnt his craft as a DJ with regular slots at London super club Fabric.
The year 2000 marked the inception of Jesse’s first label, ‘Front Room Recordings’, which has featured some of the most prominent names in dance music such as Henrik Schwarz & Solid Groove, and continues to present itself as a key house music label. His second label ‘Made to Play’, conceived in 2005, has turned into a powerhouse for unearthing and nurturing new talent, churning out hit records like Riva Starrs’ ‘I was drunk’ and making stars out of its artists. Jesse fashioned a distinct Balkan-style sub-genre of house adopted as the defining sound of Made to Play, influencing the likes of Yolada be Cool. Jesse brought this trademark off-kilter house sound to Berlin and beyond with global residencies at Panorama Bar (Berlin) The Social Club (Paris), Hive (Zurich), XOYO (London), Avalon (Los Angeles) and Womb (Tokyo), as well as to thousands of revelers at leading festivals around the world such as Creamfields, Parklife, Exit and Melt.
Jesse’s production prowess saw him produce Hot Chip in 2010 for their single entitled ‘Build a House’, the first ever production not tailored by the band themselves. 2010 also saw Jesse launch his third imprint; ‘Play it Down,’ which despite it’s no press approach is already getting some serious attention solely based on the merit of the music. Following the staggering popularity last summer of Jesse and Henrik Schwarz’s live tour project; ‘Black Rose’, a return assault is planned on the major festival circuit for summer 2011. The first Black Rose EP, aptly titled “Anthem’ will also drop on Made to Play in early 2011 and has already received Radio One’s ‘Essential New Tune’ accolade.
Continued international touring schedule aside, Jesse is using the European winter to turn his attentions to original productions, basing himself out of L.A, working on a new Jesse Rose album, producing acts and getting back into the studio with Dave “Switch” Taylor. He has also teamed up with super talent Noah Beriesin of Chiddy Bang fame on a new collaborative project, ‘Alphabet and Numbers’.
“I’ve been serious about music since I was a kid.” Says Jeff Wilson, who is now known as EviCtion; a renegade electronic musician. “I used to listen to my mom’s old vinyl and play Jimi Hendrix’s Are you Experienced? over and over”
When Jeff Wilson was in his funk/rock band Traffic Jam, fans could find him playing lead guitar and sporting a big curly afro. “I started playing guitar in junior high and took it very seriously. When I was 15 I was playing in the local bar circuit. My parents used to drop me us off an pick us up at 2am!” His first professional release was an independently produced CD titled Traffic Jam : Funkacoholics Anonymous, and at the age of only 16 his music could be found in Surf Films that graced the screens at Sundance.
After attending Yamaha School of Music in Toronto, Jeff taught guitar at the Atlantica School of Music in Saint John. After Graduating high school, Jeff then decided to attend St. Francis Xavier University to study jazz guitar full time. This is where his musical creativity morphed into what is now EviCtion.
Starting as a small time DJ, EviCtion’s productions soon propelled him into becoming a frontrunner in the east coast DJ scene. His unique style and ear for music made it easy for EviCtion to stand out among an ever-growing east coast DJ market. His punk attitude and aggressive approaches to making music has helped EviCtion become the east coasts most in demand producer/DJ. Selling out shows of 2200+ people across the east, thousands of screaming fans are a testament to EviCtion’s talent and originality.
After finding his sound, which he describes as “Indie, Techno, and Electro”, EviCtion has played every major concert and festival in the east. EviCtion has been asked to share the stage with electro heavy weights Bloody Beetroots, Felguk, Lazy Rich, and Vandalism, but he doesn’t stop there. He has also performed with Team Canada DJ’s three times in the last two years and played with Eh! Team Dj Ilo along with Scratch from the legendary Roots. EviCtion has shown that his style is both versatile and marketable.

When you see him behind the decks, prepare to be discombobulated and flabbergasted!!!
Like the name implies, YUKKURi’s style is rather casual and laid-back. But don’t let that take-it-easy attitude fool you. His hard-hitting, high-energy mixes will keep you on your toes and your hands in the air from the first song to the last! Specializing in Happy Hardcore, UK Hardcore, Hard House and Makina, as well as the unique styles of various Japanese Hardcore artists, you may not find YUKKURi at your local nightclub, but if you happen to find yourself moving to some hard-hitting beats played by a guy wearing a big red bow, then you’ve probably already found him!
From growing up in a musical family Hindle was introduced to music at very young age. “ I always found myself analyzing different beats and rhythms and found myself looking for a feeling in music”.
Hindle was introduced into the electronic scene Through his parents at a young age. As Hindle started to discover the sensations of the scene he stumbled upon three passionate dj’s Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. “Their sound was truly like no other and moved me in way like no other”. “Their sound inspired me to become something great”. Hindle was touched!
From being touched so deeply Hindle devolped a desire, a desire
to touch people like how he has been touched, to inspire people to be positive, and to always move forward.
Hindle started djing at 17 with his friend and local dj- dj Redro! “I started playing for house parties with dj Redro and eventually moved up, playing at underground venues and events, then eventually to the club environment.” Now together they form a collaboration called Phemo” to introduce a phat emotion!
As Hindle got more and more into djing he started moving towards house music and made his signature! “I loved how groovy and positive it is, it just has so much flavour”
“My objective is to play that groovy vibe but incorporate that touching desire to inspire people and make them feel good”. “Feeling good is the best thing you can do for yourself. “A Successful performance in my eyes, is when everyone leaves happy!”

Driving and rhythmic, organic and aggressive, rowdy and fun, MUX blends a unique sound and a powerful stage presence into a performance that can only be described as live rave techno.

Shaun Gregory is a Vancouver based DJ and Producer, who moved to Manchester, England to study Digital music production and sound engineering at the Manchester Midi School. After rocking countless clubs in the UK for over 5 years Shaun came back to Vancouver to pursue his musical career in his hometown and to focus his efforts on crafting his own style of House and Electro influenced Trance.
Shaun has been making a name for himself recently due to the success of his remix of Craig Connelly’s club smasher “Manchester AM”, out on Garuda Records. His remix was in the “Top 10” on the Beatport Trance Charts for over 2 weeks and was played by Garuda Records creator and founder Gareth Emery on Pete Tong’s legendary Radio 1 show for millions of listeners and was also featured on Andy Moor’s January artist chart on Beatport.
This year Shaun has also released a number of remix’s on various European labels such as Interstate/Infrasonic records, New Communicate and D-Max. Shaun’s debut single “Liquid Neon” has been signed to Garuda Records and is set for release later this summer.
Adam Glassco aka “Flinch”, has been in the studio lately cooking up a lot of hot and heavy bass music. Producing since 2000 he got his start in the Drum and Bass scene. Experimenting with different sounds over the years Flinch ended up co-founding an electro group called True Pseudo in 2007. Flinch currently produces dubstep and pretty much anything with a sick baseline and a fat beat.
Most noteworthy are his collaboration remixs with 12th Planet of Jinder’s “Youth Blood” on NYCs Trouble and Bass and Dave Nadas “Appocolypse Theame” wich have been played by such djs as dubstep icons SKREAM and PLASTICIAN to NU Electro bad boys DESIGNER DRUGS and French tastemaker BUSY P. True Pseudo’s indie banger “Freaking me out” also received some BBC1 radio play from KISSY SELL OUT.
Currently Flinch has been djing around the states and gaining some heavy weight recognition from LA to NY. You can expect to hear more collaborations with 12th Planet including a remix for house legend DJ Sneek for SCION A/V , as well as some fresh and original Flinch releases summer 2010 on Trouble and Bass, SMOG , Party Like Us , and Play Me.
Mesmerizing, passionate and stunning are just a few words that describe this hot talent in the Canadian DJ scene. Growing up with music was an important part of her life, she was able to truly appreciate the many avenues and genres. Playing the piano and having those classically trained roots contributed to her self-taught ability of picking up precise skills behind the decks.
Her natural ear for sounds makes djing & production in the studio perfect playgrounds for her creative and electrifying mixing skills. Exceeding expectations every performance, she has been described as one of the hardest working DJs in Canada. So it’s no surprise that DJ Laela has become one of the fastest growing and highly sought after female DJs in the country. She holds many residencies around Western Canada including Whistler, Vancouver and Victoria nights, regular Revelstoke appearances, along with Banff and Calgary shows in AB.
DJ Laela’s talents go far beyond her ability to lay down tracks, as she has been known to surprise the crowd by throwing in her alluring ‘Live Vocals’ over her tracks. Depending on the mood and desire of the crowd, you may catch her on the microphone and you will be amazed on a whole other level!! Her style reflects the sexiest, dirtiest house & electro beats in the club, so expect the dancefloors to be filled from start to end of the show.
She has supported MSTRKRFT, Sam La More (MOS Australia) and played alongside the likes of The Stafford Brothers (MOS Australia, Fox8 TV) and most recently Jamie Vale on a Red Bull Western Canada Tour. She has also played previous years at main stage & venues at the 2009 & 2010 VEMF. Between the 2010 Winter Olympics/Paralympics she performed in Vancouver & Whistler playing some of the hottest venues including Barcelona (Vancouver’s #1 voted Nightclub VNA 2010) and Gorgomish Afterhours, it was one of her favorite and most memorable tour experiences so far.
With each performance her domino effect occurs, making it’s way from venue to venue leaving one thing in common…a truly positive lasting impression! The result is her bookings branching out further away each time in higher demand. Networking at the highest level whenever and where ever she is has become her signature promoting herself as an artist. Recent exposure into the US market gained her representation on the talent roster of THUMP SOCIETY out of NYC, scouted by Reflex the agency owner and Resident DJ to Red Bull NYC. In Canada she’s signed with Symbiant Artist Management based out of Vancouver. She carries her own branding “Party Beats” that has really started making a mark across the country, taking this amazing female DJ coast to coast from Victoria to Halifax. The most recent affiliation added to her expanding roster is being signed to the global clubbing brand “Sunglasses at Night”. A recognized brand that holds residencies internationally including places like Ibiza.
DJ Laela illuminates the decks, and should not to be missed if you have the opportunity to see her play. Already this summer she has played SYNC Festival and will be gracing the stages in Kelowna for the Sexy Sounds Festival. We are definitely sure to see a lot more of this beautiful and talented DJ in the near future.

If your ears work, you can’t not have fun at a Smalltown DJs gig. That’s a scientific fact. Look it up. The Canadian duo’s uncanny ability to make crowds feel like schoolkids at recess stems naturally from their focus on maximizing fun for themselves.
“We’re just out to consistently have the best time possible,” says Pete Emes, who shares space behind the decks with partner Mike Grimes. This fun maximization philosophy is the unifying force behind the Smalltown’s genre-warping club sets, which cover vast musical territory but never veer from the good times vibe.
Smalltown DJs began in 1999, when Emes and Grimes started playing records out together. Before long the duo had launched Hai Karate, a weekly Thursday smash-up that’s still going strong. Now in its twelfth year, Hai Karate is a free-for-all dance party that borrows a little from each of the scenes that shaped the Smalltown sound: community hall punk rock, block party hip-hop and early nineties rave.
The long-running night is now hosted at HiFi Club, the Calgary nightspot that the Smalltowners opened with a partner in 2005. In 2011, they added to their clubland empire with Commonweath Bar & Stage, a much larger venue that has already become a linchpin of Calgary’s music scene.
Whether he’s opening for international superstars like Tipper, Bassnectar and the Freestylers; rocking a headlining slot at an outdoor party or providing backdrop beats in a local lounge, Generic is the kind of DJ who fully brings it, whatever the gig. His combination of technical skills (the guy has taken several Vancouver Island DJ competition titles), impeccable ear for crowd-rocking tunes and a fun-loving attitude makes Generic (nee Cole Magnusson) one of the Island’s most sough-after disc jockeys. Expect one of his sets to be chock-a-block with broken beats, glitch hop, drum and bass and dubstep—including some of his own tracks, edits and remixes—with plenty of cutting and scratching thrown in for good measure. With skills like that, it’s no surprise this 10-year vet behind the decks rarely goes a weekend without dropping a set
Combining dub, downtempo, hip hop, dnb, house and breakbeats AFL pushes sounds both old and new to create an eclectic and unique audio experience. Formerly known as Azrael, AFL originally hailed from Victoria, BC, but currently resides in Vancouver where he has been laying low and perfecting his cross genre blend. These days AFL has been heavy on the dubstep tip, creating bass laden mixes such as his “Smoke Sessions” Compilations. Be on the look out for new mixes and original productions, AFL is sure to be making moves in 2011 and beyond.
I guess this is the part where I start rambling about my dj’ing career thus far.
Ive been a bedroom dj for over two years now, going out and playing for crowds for about a year and a half, my sensai djs who have shown me the up and ups are skian, gary khan and walffulz.
Ive played twice at carrington music festival and have made a few trips to Tofino to play at some bars there, also any north island rave you can normally count me to be mixing at some point in the night.
Im fairly versatile in my style, If you check out my soundcloud ive made a small mix with just Nu-swing style music, but I normally play dubstep, electro house, glitch hop, and add a dash of funk in there
oh and DnB cant forget about DnB haha
So I would love it if you considered me to represent the north island for you!

I have only been DJing for a year now, however have played shows at Spirit Bar and the Royal on Baker in Nelson BC and The Element Club in Castlegar BC. I have opened for Timothy Wisdom, Rococode, Ryan Wells, Cass Rhapsody, as well as closed 3 nights myself. I am really fresh on the scene, but deliver a high energy, fun, exciting performance. I am very passionate about electronic music, and have started producing my own. I realize I don’t have very much to go on here, but hopefully you enjoy my mix, as it gives a good idea of what to expect of my performance. The mix is a live recording. Thanks so much for your time, and best of luck with your festival!

I’m the guy behind East Van Digital & Fresh Baked DJs…been dropping tunes since ’98 and have been a Shambhala resident DJ since ’04, having played many a memorable set in the legendary Fractal Forest. For 3 years I hosted The Shakedown radio show and with the Liquidbeat collective, helping to produce some of the B.C. interior’s most inspiring parties. Currently, I’m a resident DJ with Intimate Productions, who maintained the long running night SiGNAL Saturdays at the former Lotus Sound Lounge in Vancouver.
I play what I think is best for the moment; I’m a pretty obsessive collector of music with a deep library and a fond love of programming. Bassline. Breaks. Disco Punk. Electro. Fidget. Funky House. Jump Up. Minimal. Tech House. Techno. Trip Hop. Vinyl, cd’s, Ableton, Serato…I use them all. In a Fresh Baked DJs live set, you can expect to hear me remixing on the fly, triggering samples, tracks, loops and adding live synth to the mix, blending elements of Bassline, Electro, Fidget & House.
Recently I’ve remixed for Big Dope P (FRA), Chilli & Sage (CAN), Dee Bass & Dialect (CAN), Jay Klos (CAN), LuCity (AUS), Neon (UK), Perfect Cell (AUS), Woodhead (CAN) & produced for Jody Black (CAN).

There are 4 beats in a bar, and 4 bars in a phrase, but that’s not the only phrase in music. Fraser Evans, better known as Phrase, fell in love with music from a young age and has always been interested in shaping a certain sound. Attraction to broken beats brought him to where he is in the electronic music scene today. With several years of mixing and many more of drumming and various other instruments under his belt you can always expect fine rhythms. Even at only 17 years of age Phrase steps up to the deck and impresses, every time.

After a decade of DJ skills have caught up to the track selection of Nick Karma leaving the door wide open for creativity. Broken Beat, Techno, Mininmal, and even Down-Tempo find there way into his sets, but his love for House still shines through. Nick plans to have a big summer this year with his involvement with HausClub, and other House Music nights in Victoria, and hopes to keep pushin’ things forward. Stay tuned for new music… for Nick is a busy man lately. You can follow Nick on Soundcloud and Facebook to get glimpse of what he’s throwing down, and when he is playing.
A technical artist, who unabashedly unleashes build-ups and bass lines that tear dance-floors to pieces, Marlee is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the world’s best. A diverse little power house, Marlee fought her way to the top of BCs underground scene. She’s held several residencies including Sunset Room and Lucky Bar. She’s played alongside some of the worlds finest artists (Chris Liberator, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Jelo, Starkillers, Simply Jeff, Uberzone, John Howard). It is not uncommon to hear her seamlessly weld several different styles into one set. The results are a wicked down-right dirty romp through the electronic music world. Her numerous television appearances on MTV and A-Channel have thrown more fuel on the fire as Marlee, over 10 years into her DJ career, only seems to gain momentum. Professional party heads - prepare to get thumped…
You walk onto a dancefloor, the dj is going ballistic, the crowd is feeding off this infectious energy, the building erupts with dancefloor musical passion, Zarkonix is on the decks. This rapidly rising Vancouver Island star is building quite the following through throwing his own shows and getting booked by others to play alongside some of the worlds finest. He’s shared the stage with artists like the legendary Hirshee, DJ Czech, MissDVS, DJ Captain Crunch, Tyler Collins, The Funk Junkie, and Whoa Grenade! He’s even caught the attention of top 10 Beatport charting artists like Soulfix and Steve Velocity. His recent midtempo edit Knife Party’s bomb ‘Bonfire’ has went viral only seconds after posting it. Sunglasses are in order for the imminent bright future of this passionate young dj and producer.
Elevenn Seraphim is a unique musical experience. It is a ferocious blend of dubstep, glitch and hiphop. Using the classic formula of DJ and turntables, Elevenn uses conscious darkness slathered on psyche shattering beats to save the masses from their bleak everyday lives. Seraphim is the result of a powerful individual finding the beauty in the struggle and using every watt to ravage every ear within range. Living on the edge in Victoria BC, she has been given a divine right to do this.
Elevenn is almost too much to deal with. As a DJ, she is personally responsible for ushering in the Dubstep scene in Calgary. Having found her soul in the sheer filth of Dubstep in 2006, while most other DJ’s were busy growing hair in strange new places, Elevenn made it her personal mandate to pwn the scene’s largest parties and give the kids something fresh. A skilled turntablist, with a true gift for reading the crowd’s energy, her sets leave people in a sweaty satisfied mess. Elevenn on the decks is a gothic dark empress with a soft touch and an iron fist. Dub chub may occur, be forewarned.
So this is 2011 and everybody better hold their ankles, cause the sky is about to bleed. The studio is up, the tables are spinning, the mic is armed and the volume is making doctors nervous. The album is coming. Seraphim is crafting a sound scape that even the Sandman couldn’t dream up. There are wet bibles and exploding pianos in the sample bank and that’s just the beginning. Elevenn is a talented producer and has been creating beats and honing her craft into excellence for the past few years. Keep your ears open as the process continues. But, oh no, don’t think that it stops there. Seraphim is taking this to your front door. Performing all over Pacific Northwest and internationally, know the name so you can stay up to date, I mean, who doesn’t want to have their face melted off?
Elevenn headlined alongside shows with other demigods such as: Caspa, Aquasky, Subvert, Benny Page, Excision, Ill-esha and DJ Swamp to name a few, and she’s rocked shows and festivals across the country, from Montreal to Victoria and everywhere in between. The experience is like no other. A new age is upon us. Hark, hear the Seraphim sing.
Matt Dezine has been bathing in drum and bass for over ten years, seeking out a fusion of sexy dark funk and developing a penchant for hard bass and kicking ass. Skilled at fighting off attacking velociraptors while throwing down some of the hugest drum riddims you’ll ever hear. Holding down a three year strong monthly at Hush nightclub as one third of the cataclysmic Dreadsteppas has minted his technique to a razors edge. Sonically forging together an new breed of sound, this beat juggernaut isn’t afraid to do things differently in the studio. Always striving for the marring together of melodie and destruction, like angels shitting chainsaws. There are only two things this auditory wizard doesn’t like, that group in the back not dancing, and people who talk in the third person…
you know who you are.
Dark Arps is a producer, composer, engineer, programmer and live electronic music performer, otherwise known as Live PA. He programs synths and designs sound, throwing down driving, energized basslines with funky, techhie beats. This handle is new, but he’s been at it, in one way or another, for 15 years.
Dark Arps digs deep. He’s subtly blunt. Darkly optimistic. Angrily happy. Cynically naive. Dark Arps pauses to reflect through movements and progression. He crafts beginnings, middles and ends; journeys. Peaks and troughs of light and darkness. Intensity and respite. Screams and whispers. Through all this he creates dynamics of audible energy with the colours and shades of his music, punctuated with irresistibly danceable techno and breakbeat grooves.
Dark Arps feels strongly. And he wants you to feel strongly too. He believes in the power of moments, those animated .gifs of memory. A sentence in the story of your life, looped, fine details blurred but vibe and atmosphere hyped. He lives for the powerful associations we create between people, place and music. And he hopes you know wtf he’s talking about, because that’s what he’s trying to create.
See, Dark Arps is LIVE, and he’s actually in the room with you. He engages with the crowd on a down-to-earth, personal level, and he’d rather be set up on the actual dancefloor and mixing it up with you lot than posing it up on a stage. Better sound, closer to the audience. Come and hi! There’s a very good chance he’ll like you.

The existence of Dodd has long been questioned by those who’ve not been on his dancefloor—but those who’ve been there are fast and thorough believers. From his humble beginnings as a dancefloor observer Dodd carefully catalogued the sounds and reactions of the people in order to pinpoint the perfect palette of progressive sounds: blending trance, glitch, dub and techno tidbits into memorable dancefloor journeys that transcend sonic expectations. With these dancefloor commandments Dodd has been rocking crowds consistently in Victoria, as well as becoming a mainstay of the Entheos Conference and Festival. Whether you’re a believer or not, with the speakers as his chorus, you will be moved by the voice of Dodd…
I really like to see people having a great time on the dance floor. I am so glad that I can be a part of that. ~ Charles Feelgood Point blank, Charles Feelgood loves music and even more, he loves sharing it with his fans. The man prides himself on his ability to connect with his audience – through a wicked combination of his exuberant personality and his exquisite ability to know what fills and keeps a dance floor pumpin’. His rise to dance music infamy dates back to his humble beginnings as the leading force behind the Baltimore / Washington DC electronic music scene. Alongside his partner, and fellow DJ, Scott Henry, Feelgood launched Fever, which for nearly a decade became one of the most sought after events for touring DJs from around the world. It was the days after starting Fever that Feelgood enhanced his reputation amongst those the international dance community. He parlayed his danceable brand of House music up and down the East coast and became renown for his creative ability to incorporate his love of 80’s music with a variety of different House styles into his sets. In the years that have followed, he has taken his talents to all ends of the earth – from North and South America to Russia and Asia, and everywhere in between. He has appeared at such seminal events as Coachella, and Lollapalooza, and has become a welcome fixture with Insomniac, Giant, and Karma Foundation. He also plays quite regularly in Los Angeles (Vanguard, Playhouse), San Francisco (Ruby Skye), and has been a part of the annual Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans for over a decade. Around the turn of the century, Feelgood moved from the familiarity of his East coast domain to sunny SoCal. His initial popularity was assisted thanks in part to his legendary mixed series, “Time to Get Ill” and has continued to flourish though the release of remixes and singles such as “Hands,” “Aerobic Martini,” “Strobe Light,” and “Burnin”. He is a mainstay in the Top 100 on BeatPort and Top 10 on a number of other worldwide digital sites. In late 2011 Feelgood is launching his own indie imprint, Supa Cuts Recordings. This label will be an outlet for Feelgood to showcase his own productions as well a platform for new talent discoveries in the dance music community. Accolades such as repeatedly being named to DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs aside, Feelgood remains committed to lighting up dance floors around the world – summing up his musical mission in one sentence: “I just want to do what the name implies, to make people have a good time and go home with a great feeling”. Indeed.
The West Midlands based duo (Leigh & Karl) started music production back in may 2009 when a simple hobby became an obsession. with no production knowlede but the thirst to learn, the guys where thrown in the deep end when there bootlegs got the attention of several podcasts. this then changed a hobby into a carrier.
With over 50 releases on beatport squeezed into 7 months from there first release back in nov 09, these guys just don’t let the speakers cool down!
Refusing to stick to the ‘genre rulebook’ & defining there music as ‘Ecstatic House’ there is never a dull moment with there mind shattering bass & there ever growing need to keep the crowd guessing.
Having huge support from some big names such as ‘Lazy Rich ‘Rico Tubbs’ ‘Will Bailey’ Luvstuff’ & having plays on Radio 1’s ’ Kissy Sellout Show’ the lads really are making a dent in the music scene.
This is one duo that will be around for a very long time!!
With over a decade invested into the Vancouver Island scene, Mike has been established as one of the most reliable DJs around. New genres have come and gone but what makes Mykee unique is his ability to acquire the best music from all things Electronica. Whether it’s House, Electro, Breaks or Techno, Mike can read a crowd and knows exactly what to play.
Mike is also one of the only active DJs today that played at the very first VEMF in 2001. He’s been a loyal supporter of the festival since day 1. With his production company, “Reliable Entertainment” he’s managed to build a large following not only as a DJ but as a promoter, bringing out international artists to our very own Hush Nightclub in Victoria.
As far as CD releases go, there are only 2 known mixes that Mike has released. He likes to keep people guessing with what he plays and not be labeled to a specific genre. One of the CDs Mike released was, “Mykee - Just Do it” a few years ago and has gone on to still be one of the most popular mixes by any DJ on Vancouver Island. With that said, Mike has promised to release a, “Just Do it Vol. 2” while playing at this year’s VEMF. So make sure you’re up front to grab a copy!
With a residency at Hush, ongoing gigs at Sunset Room, and being booked almost every weekend at dance parties, DJ Mykee has been recognized as the most on demand DJ on the Island. Be sure to check out his set at VEMF 2011!

Confident. Exuberant. Raw. Innovative. These are just a few of the words industry insiders and fans have used to describe the talent behind one of America’s favorite house DJs, Donald Glaude. Ranked #68 on DJMag.com’s Top 100 DJs List in 2005, Donald skyrocketed to #48 this year and his genius keeps on growing…
Born in Tacoma, Washington, Donald’s love for music began at an early age. Originally a disciplined student of classical music, he was well-versed in the upright bass and violin. Any aspirations Donald had to continue in the classical vein vanished once he heard his first house record. With an ear for blending music already under his belt, and a love for the energy and soul of musical prodigies like George Clinton and Funkadelic, Donald began to amass a collection of house records which he taught himself to mix with a pair of mismatched turntables and a Radio Shack mixer.
Before Donald few DJs had attempted to spin house records. Donald’s fine ear helped him give birth to a new style. After mastering his craft, Donald began DJing in various clubs around Tacoma and Seattle. During that time he made several important connections which would launch his music to the forefront of what was quickly becoming one of the largest underground movements since New Wave in the late-70s. Perhaps the greatest connection Donald made was with another aspiring DJ and friend, DJ Dan.
Together Donald & DJ Dan sparked the rave scene in Seattle and developed large followings. Knowing that Donald possessed an energy and ability to work the crowd that was unparalleled to anyone else on the circuit, Dan convinced San Francisco’s legendary Funky Tekno Tribe to bring down his good friend Donald to play at one of their parties. Donald’s talents quickly made him a permanent fixture on F.T.T.’s roster.
Some DJs seek commercial acceptance. Donald, on the other hand, has always preferred an emotional connection with his audience. For Donald, house music is not simply a mixed bag of sound, but rather an experience that provokes the soul. Apart from his mastery on the decks, Donald is best known for his dynamic showmanship. He enjoys his music as much as his audience does. Embracing their energy, it is not uncommon to find Donald pumping his hands in the air, jumping up and down and shouting back his love to the crowd. It is this powerful signature style which has led fellow DJ and musical producer, Dave Aude, to call Donald the “James Brown of DJs.” Donald also caused some stir in 2005 and 2006 with his residency at ICE Nightclub in Las Vegas.
Donald’s uncompromising style and innovation show no sign of slowing down any time soon. With the credit of 5 full-length CDs and numerous remixes under his belt, Donald has focused much of his time to production work. Producing such dance floor hits as “Get Up” and “Soul Cha Cha”. As such, Donald has launched two record labels in which are causing rumblings in the industry. Eden Recordings, started with fellow DJ Rick V, and Durty Records, a collaboration with good friend Vince Lombardi.
Donald’s 2005 release, “This is Me” (Moist Music), is a 35-track double CD that defines his creativity, sound and vibrant style. Since its release, Donald’s fans have been eager to hear what’s next from their favorite DJ. Fans will be pleased to know that Donald’s hard at work on another double CD, “For the People” (Moist Music), a live recording and original tracks produced by Donald himself. With the completion of this latest project, the world should be prepared to experience all sides of Donald Glaude: DJ. Producer. ARTIST.
Continuing to be “The Hardest Working American Dj” Donald has many new projects planned for this upcoming year. He has a tour scheduled with “America’s Most Beloved Dj” Dj Dan and he also has another new CD releasing in 2007. Also expect new release from both of his labels Eden Recordings and Durty Records. You have seen him use his musical talents from bring his experience in playing bass, percussion, violin and then moving on to the turntable just show us his grasp on music. To mastering the turntable and then on to recently turned Serato user always expect the unexpected when you come see Donald Glaude………
DJ Chris Poynter has been mixing music ever since he was 9 years old when he figured out how to record songs from the radio onto his cassette player. He got into the mobile DJ business when he was 17, and for 8 years had a lot of success spinning at weddings, school dances, corporate events, and house parties all over the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan region of BC. Although he still plays the role of mobile DJ from time-to-time, Chris has more recently began to focus his energies on mixing dance and electronic music. Boasting an extremely eclectic taste, Chris is the type of DJ who does not believe in limiting himself to one genre. Because of this philosophy, he has been heralded for his exceptional abilities to combine fitting song choice and a creative mixing style to effectively control the ebb and flow of the dance floor all night long… no matter what the venue or occasion!
DJ Chris Poynter also has a formally trained background as a jazz trumpet & piano player, and is currently studying Elementary Education at the University of Victoria. Teacher by day, DJ by night?
This is DJ Chris Poynter’s first time playing at VEMF, and he is hoping it will help him break into the Victoria scene.

Their mashups have garnered the support of many artists in the EDM industry, and as artists, Brad & Victor H constantly strive to channel their passion for electronic music into bringing the best of trance and progressive to all music lovers alike.
Despite being a relative newcomer to Victoria, Outsider has quickly made himself a fixture in the local electronic music scene. The drum-and-bass DJ also known as Jon Camilleri is a versatile beat connoisseur with an uncanny ability to read a crowd, whether they’re downtempo diners at a lounge or frenzied festival-goers. Relocating to the Island in 2009 after growing up and cutting his DJ teeth in Toronto, Outsider has shared the stage with world-class acts like Andy C, Aphrodite, High Contrast, Rusko, 12th Planet, Distance and Benny Page, to cherry-pick a few names from his impressive gig resume. He’s rocked pretty much every major electronic music festival on Vancouver Island (including closing for Dieselboy, Dirty Phonics and TC in the 2009 and 2010 editions of the legendary Soundwave Music Festival), and regularly headlines his own gigs, both on the road and in Victoria. He can also be found behind the decks as a resident for both Whitebird and sub|division, Victoria’s foremost pusher of bass culture. In the club, he is a surgeon in the mix, clipping along flawlessly from track to storming track, able to blend ol’ skool amen-laden flavours with modern envelope pushers. Don’t let the name fool you: with his eclectic taste in tunes and nearly a decade of experience as a DJ, Outsider is definitely in on a lot of musical secrets.

d-Set first got into electronic dance music in early 1998, being so drawn in by this sound he needed to be a part of it and purchased his first set of turntables by summer. His love for big basslines and skippy beats attached his interests to this genre they were calling speed garage. As one of the original and rare Garage DJs on Vancouver Island d-Set has been playing clubs, music festivals, and parties all over western Canada for the last 13 years. He has been producing his own music now since 2007 and with a few years of production behind him now you are sure to hear a number of d-Set originals during his sets. It’s always a treat to experience how his energy makes an entire dance floor go off when he steps up in front of a crowd. We started playing together two years ago, and decided we needed to make a name for ourselves. We both live for the clicking sound in techno music so we took our initials and named ourselves re_Click. We closed Diehard this past summer for 5 hours, played The Base Lounge, and have played many community dances and house parties.

After 6 years of producing and refining his craft Canadian electronic producer John Straathof is ready to hit the world with his original music as Notch 21. Built on a foundation of heavy electro beats and supported by atmospheric melodies that are both electrifying and mesmerizing, Notch 21 has created a unique sound that will change the dance floor experience. His first independent release on iTunes contains 4 of his best tracks that showcase his unique sound. The EP entitled Cryptic Noise Machine was mixed and mastered to perfection by Dr. Octavo who is known for his remixes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Adele amongst many others. 2012 will see John break out of his studio and into the public with his all original live show to help support the amazing Canadian west coast electronic music scene.
Spending an unhealthy amount of time perfecting his craft, Lewd Behavior (aka Wyatt Compagna) is a highly technical artist. In the studio he is meticulous, and on stage he is outrageous. If he sets foot in the club you can expect live edits, mash ups, original productions, remixes, and exclusive tracks he would be assassinated for telling you about. Not to mention he was dropping beats at the bar before he was old enough to drink. This all culminates into an infectious live experience that will keep you feverishly salivating for more.
