I began performing primarily as a DJ this year as an opening act for Whitebird events, including “Propa Tingz” and “Grasp the Erro” at Hush Nightclub. Following the event, I was featured in a review by Victoria’s bass music blogger “Dub Selekta” (www.dubselekta.com). In November 2010, I was booked to provide music for a Whistler, BC snowboard company named Voleurz to support their promotional video tour (www.voleurz.ca). This event took place at Sugar Nightclub and was a highly successful. The included artist photos depict this event.
Since these events, I have filled the role as an in-house DJ at Whitebird Lounge, substituting for Sub|Division’s DJ Rhythmicon on several occasions. I have also performed as a DJ at many more informal events.

Egyptrixx makes celestial club music; jeep music for a Saturn desert. There is an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension that all of his tracks share - a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial. His releases challenge the status quo and impress with a unique style informed by elements of techno, house, dubstep, pop and drone music. His debut album, ‘Bible Eyes’ was released in March of 2011 to critical acclaim from Pitchfork, The Wire, Spinner, Fader, and many others.
Nick Catchdubs lives in Brooklyn, eats Spaghetti-O’s, and plays dance music.
Over the past five years, Nick has rocked spots around the globe armed with unassuming charm and a signature mix of hip-hop, electro, dancehall, rock and more, with an emphasis on new music. In the process, he’s made a name for himself as a top-notch party DJ and one of the most diverse and enthusiastic selectors in todays scene, equally at home opening sold-out shows for the likes of the Clipse, MIA and Rihanna, banging it out between indie bands at the SXSW and CMJ festivals, or raving past dawn with Sinden and other new-school club wizards.
Nick’s expertly-sequenced mixtapes have the Chicago Reader calling him “tastemaking royalty who can break an act single-handedly,” while his blends, remixes, and re-edits get spun everywhere from blog radio to commercial stations like Power 106 in Los Angeles. He has a grip of original productions and official remixes on deck, and still finds time to make major moves with Fool’s Gold, the trendsetting record label he co-founded with A-Trak that’s been responsible for introducing new talent like Kid Sister to the world at large.
Yet even as the achievements and accolades stack up, Nick can’t stop looking forward to the next party, the newest tunes, and the good times still to come. Hey, it’s worked so far…
Born and Raised on Vancouver Island, Fitch has had plenty of time to study the local music scenes and find what makes the local crowd go nuts. When he was 12 years old Fitch found his grandmas old record players. Hooking each record player up to a separate stereo, Fitch had his first DJ set up. Over the next few years Fitch started to DJ at Raves and House Parties until he turned 18 and moved to Alberta to start in the clubs. Playing multiple residencies and club events over his two year tour of Alberta, Fitch made a name for himself with his unique mixing and live mashups. Remixing on the fly and playing the dirtiest in Electro-House mixed with Top 40, Rock, Hip Hop, and Dubstep, Fitch’s sets appeal to a wide range of audiences and leaves them begging for more. Feeding off the ecstatic energy of the crowd, Fitch adapts his mixing style and music to the type of venue and crowd - always offering a unique experience every time he visits. Wanting to broaden his horizons Fitch started to produce house music and released multiple original tracks, pulling inspiration from some of his favourite artists such as Lazy Rich, Soulfix, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Hirshee, and many more. Releasing over 10 singles including remixes of Rihanna, Daft Punk, Black Eyed Peas, and Deadmau5. Rocking the Victoria scene for the past 2 years, Fitch has started to grow popularity with the locals and is due to start his residency at two of the hottest clubs over the summer. Over the past 18 months Fitch has used his talents to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society by putting on 7 fundraisers at various clubs in Victoria and is planning for more in the future.
Taking musical influence from the early-90’s rave scene, lessons from the pioneers of modern acid techno and an intimate knowledge of analogue synthesis and electronic sound hardware, MUX has created a style all his own. Driving and rhythmic, organic and aggressive, rowdy and fun, MUX blends a unique sound and a powerful stage presence into a performance that can only be described as live rave techno.
Brent first got into electronic dance music in early 1998, being so drawn in by this sound he needed to be a part of it and purchased his first set of turntables by summer. His love for big basslines and skippy beats attached his interests to this genre they were calling speed garage. As one of the original and rare Garage DJs on Vancouver Island d-Set has been playing clubs, music festivals, and parties all over western Canada for the last 14 years. He has been producing his own music now since 2007 and with a few years of production behind him now you are sure to hear a number of d-Set originals during his sets. It’s always a treat to experience how his energy makes an entire dance floor go off when he steps up in front of a crowd. He has some serious skills when it comes to track selection and reading a crowd! Super sweet ...and melodic vocals mixed with an undeniable dirty bassline. Over the years Brent has had the pleasure of open for names like Dig-Dug, Soulfix, Czech, Will Bailey, Mighty Fools, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, and Stupid Fresh. He is an island favourite who is not to be missed.
My name is Andrew Sherry, I am 24 years of age. Music, and musical instruments have always been a huge part of my life. Electronic music has always fascinated me with it’s rapid evolution, and out of this world sounds, and capabilities.
In 2010 I was fortunate enough to have been apprenticed by my dear friend DJ Kenzie Clarke. I quickly caught the hang of it and was immediately addicted. I had my first gig within 4 months of stepping behind the tables at Lucky Bar, opening for BUSTA, and MR. Smith.
Over the past year I have played quite a few a gigs in Victoria, Vancouver, and Whistler. Some memorable gigs over the past year have been, The media club in Vancouver, 919 opening for LA Riots, holding down NYPD(Thursdays) at Lucky Bar for 3 months, Maple room for blackout at the Strath, OH GREAT Mondays with Wax, MR Smith vs the Shrew episodes at Lucky Bar on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
From Disco, Breaks, Electro, House, Dubstep and DNB I love it all and have a knack for knowing what the crowed wants to hear. You can expect to keep your feet moving, head banging and have the urge to want more.
My future plans for djing are to continue to enjoy it, and learn. I would like to increase the amount of shows that I play out of town, and will be starting to take over Friday Evenings, and Saturday Evenings at Lucky Bar with Chris Longshanks.
One part sexy robot and one part aerobics instructor, 25 year old Matt Dauncey has managed to find the middle ground between music and athletics. By harnessing the power of wrestling suits, tennis sweatbands, vintage synthesizers, and electric guitar, Neighbour has tapped into an ancient power-source that has given him the capacity to conjure up frenzied dancefloors
wherever he is needed. Through a mysterious process that involves not one, but TWO gigantic crystals, the Homebreakin Records co-owner has managed to combine the raw ecstacy of the early days of disco with razor-sharp futuristic production.
His hybrid DJ / live performance tore across the continent this year, culminating in an incredible series of festival dates across western Canada, including headlining slots at Shambhala 2009, Soundwave, Bass Coast Project, Astral Harvest, and Summer Break. In addition to playing almost 100% original production and remixes, Neighbour plays live synthesizer and electric guitar alongside his legendary DJ sets, which range from no-nonsense electric funk bangers to gorgeous technicolor remixes of classic garage, disco, and house music.
Not one to be pigeonholed, Neighbour has spent the better part of the last two years collaborating with everyone in sight. Upcoming dancehall tracks with Calgary’s Ouda Ouda, boogie-raps with fellow performer MC ThinkTank, and an unbelieveable slate of remixes and original releases guarantee that as soon as you think you know that “Neighbour Sound”, it has grown into something completely different.
Some people say that dance music isn’t as fun as it used to be; then again, some people haven’t seen a grown man in a unitard shoot lazers out of his guitar far away into the night sky.
Taking his name from a line in a Slayer song, DJ Demonseed assaults the dancefloor with the brutal sounds of Dutch hardcore, hardstyle, and hard dark drum’n’bass, better known as evilstep. His love of hardcore began in the late 80s and early 90s with speedmetal, deathmetal and industrial groups including Slayer, Metallica, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Voivod, Ministry, Malhavoc, and Skinny Puppy, and progressed into electronic music in 1994 with the emergence of the Rotterdam hardcore techno sound. He likes melody with his hardcore, along with hard drums and plenty of bass. Recently he has expanded his sound into hardstyle and hard techno, by slowing the more melodic aspects of Rotterdam from the typical 170+ beats per minute to a more manageable 140bpm.
Nate Jones has always had a strong love for music. It started at the age of five when he first tickled the ivories, to when he touched his first Tech 12 at 17. This household Victoria name from years gone by spent several years in Vancouver with residencies at numerous lounges, and gracing such clubs as the infamous Lotus. Nate’s been keeping a low profile since returning to Victoria, and has been turning his obsession with music into to something that can be felt on a global scale. He spends his time writing new tracks for record labels and honing his producer skills. He has just finished work on his 5th EP, which will hit the shelves soon! Summer has arrived and it’s time for this DJ/Producer/Musician to come out of hibernation.
After 6 years of producing and refining his craft Canadian electronic producer John Straathof is ready to hit the world with his original music as Notch 21. Built on a foundation of heavy electro beats and supported by atmospheric melodies that are both electrifying and mesmerizing, Notch 21 has created a unique sound that will change the dance floor experience. His first independent release on iTunes contains 4 of his best tracks that showcase his unique sound. The EP entitled Cryptic Noise Machine was mixed and mastered to perfection by Dr. Octavo who is known for his remixes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Adele amongst many others. 2012 will see John break out of his studio and into the public with his all original live show to help support the amazing Canadian west coast electronic music scene.
If your ears work, you can’t not have fun at a Smalltown DJs gig. That’s a scientific fact. Look it up. The Canadian duo’s uncanny ability to make crowds feel like schoolkids at recess stems naturally from their focus on maximizing fun for themselves.
“We’re just out to consistently have the best time possible,” says Pete Emes, who shares space behind the decks with partner Mike Grimes. This fun maximization philosophy is the unifying force behind the Smalltown’s genre-warping club sets, which cover vast musical territory but never veer from the good times vibe.
Smalltown DJs began in 1999, when Emes and Grimes started playing records out together. Before long the duo had launched Hai Karate, a weekly Thursday smash-up that’s still going strong. Now in its twelfth year, Hai Karate is a free-for-all dance party that borrows a little from each of the scenes that shaped the Smalltown sound: community hall punk rock, block party hip-hop and early nineties rave.
The long-running night is now hosted at HiFi Club, the Calgary nightspot that the Smalltowners opened with a partner in 2005. In 2011, they added to their clubland empire with Commonweath Bar & Stage, a much larger venue that has already become a linchpin of Calgary’s music scene.
has been involved in the scene since 1994.was inspired t ostart djing in 1999.since then he has preformed in bars, raves, pubs, rock climbing gyms, punk shows, house parties, radio shows, among other things which have come and gone. Now he spends most of his time looking at his computer in his studio.
Native to Saltspring Island, growing up in East Van and other parts of Canada is what gave Someone Special his street-wise influence.
Interested in urban dance music and music-based technology since a very early age, Someone Special attended his first break dance class at the tender age of 5 while living in the small Arizona town of Wickenburg. His music endeavor started with ritualistic beat-boxing sessions on the streets of Vancouver.
From 1999 to 2008 Someone Special was known as Deep Rollers and performed Live Electronic PA in various venues across Canada such as Fluid Lounge (Nelson), SKY (Night Club Montreal), Beaver Point Hall (Saltspring Island). Through 2010 Someone Special came home to focus his talents and inspirations with fellow artists in the Alchemi Living Arts Collective (Saltspring Island). Now he is making a solid mark for himself with Dream Collective and Sunset Labs, supporting his evolving style. His sets usually consist of an enticing blend of funky- Glitch-Hop , Electro and Tech house with a Dub snack in between. Someone Special is ready to harvest the fruit of his labor so make sure you have room on your table for his delectable delights.
For the past three years, the DJ and producer born Ashley Jones has been making it rain in the disco with innovative remixes and original tracks. Jones is far from a new jack, having racked up over a decade of international club experience and studio chops as part of the legendary drum & bass group, Evol Intent. Yet as Treasure Fingers, he’s found a way to merge his diverse influences and deep history into a signature sound, packed with intricate basslines, chopped-up, gritty synth melodies, and party-ready drum breaks. It’s already captured the ears of everyone from rock groups Snowden and Miike Snow to house legends Romanthony and Roy Davis JR (all of whom personally requested the Treasure Fingers remix treatment). Equally intrigued were A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, who quickly signed Treasure Fingers to their tastemaking label Fool’s Gold, home to Kid Sister, Duck Sauce and other buzzed-about favorites.
Treasure Fingers “Cross The Dancefloor”: “I dj now, and right now this is my favorite song to play. It’s a rare underground song” (Will.I.AM’s Favorite Party Starter Track, People Magazine) “Cross The Dancefloor” was Treasure Fingers’ debut, an inescapably catchy, vocoder-laced dance gem that two-steps over genre boundaries. The instant classic received support from AList DJs around the world such as Erick Morillo, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Sinden and Kissy Sell Out. Treasure Fingers has kept the momentum going with heavy touring and official remixes for numerous artists including Little Boots (I Am Sound), Chromeo (Vice/Atlantic), Estelle (Atlantic), Empire of the Sun (EMI), Kid Sister (Downtown), Kid Cudi (G.O.O.D/Sony), N.A.S.A (Epitaph), and James Curd (Om) (remix went to #1 on the Beatport Club Chart). A constant favorite on Hype Machine, he has also received amazing support from such blogs as Disco Dust, Boom Boom Chik, Indy Shuffle, Big Stereo and Discobelle to name a few. A new batch of equally funky Treasure Fingers originals & a mix CD are on their way along with tours in North America, Europe, UK, Asia, Australia and South America. These coming after successful tours and gigs with artists Roy Davis Jr, Fake Blood, A-Trak, Chromeo, Laidback Luke, Fred Falke, Felix da Housecat & Benny Benassi, to name a few.
What else would you expect from the A-Town original with the Midas touch, who continues to receive accolades and Radio 1 support from heavy hitters Pete Tong, Annie Mac (with a mini mix under his belt), Kissy Sellout, Jaymo & Andy George, all helping Treasure Fingers launch up, up and away into the future with people worldwide shakin’ it cross the dancefloor. Treasure Fingers is Audio Viagra (NY Post)
My style revolves around Heavy bass and Grimey synths with an acoustic vibe. Although my sound is still in the making these are the products of how music comes out in my head. Keep pealed for more Remix and Original work to be released…
The Beat Junky, Nick, has always had a love for music and dancing; finding Break Dancing in 1983, he began teaching, and competing on Vancouver Island. With this fueling his passion for the arts he grew to appreciate the many Genre’s of
Electronic music. He began on home CD players in 1995; mixing Techno, House and Industrial, and progressed to turntables in 1996, primarily mixing Drum and Bass on vinyl. He now plays on Serato, joining the modern age both technically and
musically. Harostraight, Emma, has been playing the violin since the age of 10. She received her Bachelors in Music from Queens University, and now plays with the Cowichan Consort Orchestra and Choir, as well as many other small ensembles in the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. She began playing with The Beat Junky in 2008 and has enjoyed the musical challenge of playing a Classical instrument with an Electronic genre very much.
The Beat Junky has played all over Vancouver Island, on the Main Land, as well as the Gulf Islands. With the formation of the Temple of Gong (T.O.G.), a small group of DJ’s that would ‘renegade’ parties, The Beat Junky was able to establish himself as a DJ. The Beat Junky’s genres include, among the many: Drum-n-Bass (Raga, Jungle, Jump-up, Techstep, Hardstep, Liquid funk, Grime and now Drumstep & Halfstep); Dub-step; and Glitch-hop. If it has a broken beat he is not far away! As well as being a full time Dad, he is also a body piercer in Duncan, at Mike’s Tattoos; however Nick will not let life get in his way, for there is a new Beat on the rise, ready for anything that this industry has to offer him. Playing at VEMF, with Harostraight, will be an honor and one of our last performances together before she leaves for Medical School in the fall. Peace and love to all – bring your dancing shoes for this will be a performance to remember! J

Doomwork may be summed up and identified in one single term: “unconventional”. Musically grown in the early years of the new millennium – when Italian dance had its point of apex- Alessandro and Claudio started to looking for darker sonority ; the path for the discovering of Detroit’s “Techno” music scene and its founders was short: Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Jeff Mills. Shortly after, their tin ear brought them to the so called “Big Beat” and its facets: Synth Rock, Funk, Hip Hop (Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Prodigy). At the same time they started to be interested into the Chicago House movement, born in the first half of the 80’s. Alessandro and Claudio decided collaborating together in 2008 and thus giving start to the Doomwork project. They soon reached the top of the Beatport chart, the famous reference portal of world modern club culture, with the song “Isla” first (two months n°1 in the deep house chart),and “Jazzy Stuff” then (two months n°1 in the general chart, resulting as the top selling record of 2009) and scoring again with “Groovin” (one month n°1 in the deep house chart, boasting one of the world deep house guru’s remix: Milton Jackson). In 2010 they are among the nominees of the Beatport Awards in the “the best deep house track” session, obtaining a second price with their track “Lost in memory”. All their productions constantly get positive feedbacks from the most important djs of the techno world scene as Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Karotte, 2000andOne, Radioslave, Satoshi Tomiee and many more. Their musical output brought them not only fame, but also drawn the attention of the biggest expertise of the international “scene” : Dylan Hermelijm (aka 2000andOne), chief of Planet Gong (one of the most estimate European organization), is one of them. He decided to remix and release the track “Andromeda” on the historic dutch techno label 100%PURE. The track went “on air” on BBC radio during Pete Tong broadcast “Essential Mix”, and then was released in the compilation “Wonderland” for Pete Tong’s label “Defected Records”, “Andromeda” thus became one of the most important project of the duo. Many of their works are included in the most important compilations : Space Ibiza comp. , Privilege Ibiza comp. , Cavo Paradiso “Definitons” vol. 10 (mixed by Satoshi Tomiee) , Campari Sunset ,released by Sony Music to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the famous drink. They have been performing in clubs all over the world since 2009; Air Club (Tokio) for the Redbull Master Night, Q Club (Zurich) , Tenax ( Florence), Goa (Rome), Elrow 14 (Barcelona), Bullit Club (Monaco), are only some of the clubs the duo perfomed in. Despite this intense working period, they managed to focus on their live set, a music container that ranges from “deep” and “techno”, “electro” and “house”, “prog” and “hip hop”, and brought to life their own musical purpose, in order to create a bond between the artist and the dance floor. The project immediately received positive feedbacks, and met the dancefloor during the “Amsterdam Dance Event 2010” where it can be brought to the audience in the setting of the famous “Studio 80” . Since then it became part of the “Saw Recordings” tour, Satoshi Tomiee and Hector Romero’s label. At the end of a busy 2010, the 2011 seems to be hectic either, with the launch of their own label “Retouch Recordings”, with the new projects that seem to be more important than the previous years, a new 100%PURE release and the debut on “Audiomatique”, Steve Bug’s label (Trentemoller latest album was released on the same label, just for the record), and together with their first concept album soon to be made, we’ll hardly see them enjoying a cocktail

A true pioneer, Jesse Rose is responsible for twisting the template of house music as we know it. Be it through his genre bending productions, DJ performances across the planet, remixing some of the biggest dance acts around (Major Lazer, Underworld, Simian Mobile Disco etc.), or as a label boss A&Ring; the freshest talent in electronic music, Jesse has one of the most revered profiles in the scene.
Born at the tail end of the 1970s in London’s Ladbroke Grove, as a young boy Jesse was raised on a healthy dose of Motown, soul, jazz and eighties funk. From humble beginnings, and with solid determination, Jesse began making music at the tender age of 14. Moving to Bristol in the early 90’s, he was soon DJing and running club nights together with his close friend Jamie Anderson, and quickly earned a reputation as an up and coming talent.
By 1997, Jesse was ready to make the move back to London, subsequently meeting the man that would truly change him from DJ to producer: Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor. Their first collaborations caught the eye of key Chicago house producer Derrick Carter, leading to a string of releases on his ‘Classic’ label. Jesse’s work on Switch’s ‘Dubsided’ saw the development of the house genre by mixing & dropping sounds from other genres instead of mere looping, resulting in some of his biggest hits such as ‘A-Sided’, ‘You’re All Over My Head’ and ‘Touch My Horn’. Jesse learnt his craft as a DJ with regular slots at London super club Fabric.
The year 2000 marked the inception of Jesse’s first label, ‘Front Room Recordings’, which has featured some of the most prominent names in dance music such as Henrik Schwarz & Solid Groove, and continues to present itself as a key house music label. His second label ‘Made to Play’, conceived in 2005, has turned into a powerhouse for unearthing and nurturing new talent, churning out hit records like Riva Starrs’ ‘I was drunk’ and making stars out of its artists. Jesse fashioned a distinct Balkan-style sub-genre of house adopted as the defining sound of Made to Play, influencing the likes of Yolada be Cool. Jesse brought this trademark off-kilter house sound to Berlin and beyond with global residencies at Panorama Bar (Berlin) The Social Club (Paris), Hive (Zurich), XOYO (London), Avalon (Los Angeles) and Womb (Tokyo), as well as to thousands of revelers at leading festivals around the world such as Creamfields, Parklife, Exit and Melt.
Jesse’s production prowess saw him produce Hot Chip in 2010 for their single entitled ‘Build a House’, the first ever production not tailored by the band themselves. 2010 also saw Jesse launch his third imprint; ‘Play it Down,’ which despite it’s no press approach is already getting some serious attention solely based on the merit of the music. Following the staggering popularity last summer of Jesse and Henrik Schwarz’s live tour project; ‘Black Rose’, a return assault is planned on the major festival circuit for summer 2011. The first Black Rose EP, aptly titled “Anthem’ will also drop on Made to Play in early 2011 and has already received Radio One’s ‘Essential New Tune’ accolade.
Continued international touring schedule aside, Jesse is using the European winter to turn his attentions to original productions, basing himself out of L.A, working on a new Jesse Rose album, producing acts and getting back into the studio with Dave “Switch” Taylor. He has also teamed up with super talent Noah Beriesin of Chiddy Bang fame on a new collaborative project, ‘Alphabet and Numbers’.

The diminutive but bumpin’ beat sensation, known as Bonnie Takahashi, had a fortuitous beginning when a friend gave her a stack of hard house and speed garage records to mess around with, back in 1999. It didn’t take long to realize that this little beat junkie was a future force to be reckoned with. Originally hailing from Calgary, Bonnie set her DJing roots in motion by playing underground raves and various clubs across Southern Alberta. She has made an impression behind the decks for over a decade, and when she could no longer ignore the call of the west coast, she soon became enfolded into the Victoria / Vancouver club scene participating in Dj challenges, holding residencies and rocking the turntables in numerous other clubs and venues. This sub-compact phenomenon has a booming reputation with razor-sharp technical skills that could rival any DJ in her class. Bonnie’s passion across many musical genres makes her extremely versatile, from the bangin’ bass lines of fidget house, feel good Drum n’ Bass to dirty jackin’ electro/breaks – no matter what, she’s got yo’ ass covered. Look no further, Bonnie drives the dance floor crazy, making you scream for more.
Neil Davis aka Neo¹ or Totally, is a rare breed of DJ that has been rockin out speed garage since the Summer of 1999. Within the past few years Neo has been growing his potential producing his own tracks. 2010 presented Neo with the opportunity for his premier release “Destination EP” a 5 track EP release on Atomic Zoo Recordings (Calgary). 2011 is already starting to show alot of promise with one remix released on Backzide Records (San Francisco) in March and 3 remixes for Atomic Zoo released in April & May. Now with 5 originals and 2 remixes slated for release in July-Aug on Backzide Records, Bass Hound Records (Seattle) and Breakz R Boss (Calgary) there seems to be no end in sight for this budding producer. Not only does Neo specialize in warping basslines, he is also fond to breaks, garage, 2-step, funky house, 4x4, bassline house, dnb and dubstep. Neo is also one half of “Funk’n Ruff”, the other half being none other than his best friend Brent ‘d-Set’ Kral. Together they produce mostly speed garage, bassline house and bassline breaks.
Now with 12 years of bassline knowledge behind him, come out and witness Neo with his extreme energy and stage presence animating dancefloors all across Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the Okanagan and hopefully this year the boundaries will be pushed to a new level! He’s sure to make you move your body all night long to his bass heavy sets tuned to the funky sounds of house, 2-step, breaks and garage and the dirty whompy bassline driven beats of speed garage, bassline and 4x4 with the occasional added grit of dubstep and dnb.
Colin was introduced to the rave scene in 1994.After a few years he was inspired to start playing records. He has been lucky enough to play a wide variety of shows over the last 12 years, and enjoyed every moment. He used to be able to do the 2-step (and was really good at it)until a cheap pair of shoes caused a wardrobe malfunction which ended up resulting in a dj name change in early 2002.For the past two years colin has spent most of his money and time in his studio. He has friend requests pending from such Djs as Renee pilgrim,Stanton Warriors,Dj Lorin, and of course Dr Trance. He chooses spend more time looking into the future than in the past and is very excited to see where electronic music will end up in twenty years. His favourite colour is red ...by the way.
Chord’s philosophy is simple: play good music. His style flows through deep dub and minimal to house and techno — a slow burn of building rhythms accelerating into an intoxicating blend. Moving from making killer mixed tapes for friends to playing records for local parties, his easygoing demeanour continues to engage audiences at clubs, festivals, and on his weekly web radio broadcast DUB:fuse (dub.ca). Chord’s DJ sets return focus to the music as its own spectacle, with intuitively constructed sets that play out with a constrained and powerful force. His influences range from early dub, ambient, stripped-down minimal, jackin’ house, and ground-shaking techno.

As a DJ, producer, and radio host; Synba lives his craft every day . “Listening for 8 hours a day for the rest of my life I could only scratch the surface of the amazing musical content out there! I’ve always had eclectic taste; finding where the extremes resonate and where craziness becomes music is my favorite part.” Born on Vancouver Island he spent his early years involved in musical and theatrical projects. While in high school he was given the keys to a professional theatre and sound system. As his seat in the classroom was often found empty, he could be found in the theatre working with dancers, musicians, and visual artists alike. He now spends his days in search of the sounds that supplements your pulse.
Alissa is passionate about art, cooking, clothing & costume design, music, & dancing. As “NeonSally”, she spent many sleepless nights dancing all over the interior of BC & under the stars at The Shambhala Music Festival to her favorite DJs.
Alissa’s first appearance as DJ “Lyssa” took place in 2005. Having spent 11 years in Mexico, and being fortunate enough to be exposed to Latin culture, she has a strong desire to explore her roots in her musical selections. Depending on what mood we catch her in, hot summer afternoons call for deep sexy Chicago beats and bouncy latin-infused house, and on colder nights, expect anything from dirty deep organic tribal tech to quirky & fun latin tech house….
Lyssa made Victoria her home in spring 2007. Recently Lyssa has had the privilege of opening for some amazing artists, like DJ Rice, Lori J Ward, and Kenzie Clarke. She has performed at summer festivals like Victoria Electronic Music Festival, Entheos Gathering, Uprising, and Solaris, as a solo dj, and with Skylo Raine as “UFO”. You can catch her playing in Victoria at some of the city’s coolest lounges & underground hotspots like The Sunset Room, Hush, & Base Lounge, or at two of Canada’s best music festivals, Entheos Gathering and Shambhala Music Festival.
John Norman’s sound has been refined over many years of avid pursuit of that which is driving yet laid back, full yet minimalist. The result is a sound unlike any other, filling dancefloors whether under his DJ alias Khemlab, or with his productions as John Norman.
His first major label release Never Again gained support from international heavy hitters including Markus Schulz, M.I.K.E, Wally Lopez, Marcella, and Jesse Voorn, and he shows no signs of looking back.
His sound cultivated over years of throwing some of the most memorable events in the Canadian Prairies, bringing in artists such as Frankie Bones, Signum, Ronski Speed, Bryan Jones and Patrick DSP to name a few. Literally starting out as the kid hauling his huge record bag to open decks, John quickly gained reputation for impeccable tight mixing blending sounds together for a unique approach to techno, minimal and tech house, but knowing no bounds. With this, he began booking events throughout his hometown of Winnipeg and across central Canada, Toronto, Montreal, and the Northern US.
Over this time his sound caught the ear of radio stations such as puredj.com in Holland, the former CityBeat Radio in Scotland, Undergroundradio.tv (formally Miami Beatz Radio)), and Canadian Techno.fm, where he continues to syndicate radio shows. In addition, his mixes have been featured on stations from England, Brazil, Croatia, Chile, Bulgaria, and was one of the final featured guests on DJ Preach’s Transatlantic Radio show who stated that John’s “mix of tech house will take you to a place you’ve never been”. John has also garnered interest from the music news and promotions site Beatsmedia, bringing his sound to an even larger world audience with their regular posting of his monthly Original Language Global Session, putting him in an artist portfolio alongside industry names such as Arnej, Roger Shah, Lazy Rich, Robbie Rivera, and Leon Boiler.
With a move to London, UK scheduled for August 2011 you can expect John to push his productions and DJ sets to new heights as his obsession with sound continues, taking influence not only from electronic music history but from the everyday and spreading his brand of music the world over.

There are 4 beats in a bar, and 4 bars in a phrase, but that’s not the only phrase in music. Fraser Evans, better known as Phrase, fell in love with music from a young age and has always been interested in shaping a certain sound. Attraction to broken beats brought him to where he is in the electronic music scene today. With several years of mixing and many more of drumming and various other instruments under his belt you can always expect fine rhythms. Even at a young age Phrase steps up to the deck and impresses, every time.
The West Midlands based duo (Leigh & Karl) started music production back in may 2009 when a simple hobby became an obsession. with no production knowlede but the thirst to learn, the guys where thrown in the deep end when there bootlegs got the attention of several podcasts. this then changed a hobby into a carrier.
With over 50 releases on beatport squeezed into 7 months from there first release back in nov 09, these guys just don’t let the speakers cool down!
Refusing to stick to the ‘genre rulebook’ & defining there music as ‘Ecstatic House’ there is never a dull moment with there mind shattering bass & there ever growing need to keep the crowd guessing.
Having huge support from some big names such as ‘Lazy Rich ‘Rico Tubbs’ ‘Will Bailey’ Luvstuff’ & having plays on Radio 1’s ’ Kissy Sellout Show’ the lads really are making a dent in the music scene.
This is one duo that will be around for a very long time!!

Born and raised in Los Angeles and currently living in the Vancouver area, Cooper made the natural transition from all around music lover to DJ about 5 years ago. Since then he has been putting out a popular mixtape series and performing live at festivals as well as nightclubs. Always striving for something unique and fresh, Cooper likes to bring the classics together with new school flavour.
Jesse Cian Fawcett, under the monikers Da 1 Like Damaja, DJ Demonseed, and neur0mancer, has been DJing, producing, and performing live for more than 15 years, playing a wide range of music, everything from ambient to jungle to hardcore. He has a passion for sharing classic sounds, exposing people to the roots of electronic music, while at the same time pushing his own sounds.
Mesmerizing, passionate and stunning are just a few words that describe this hot talent in the house & electro DJ scene. Growing up with music was an important part of her life, she was able to truly appreciate the many avenues and genres. Playing the piano and having those classically trained roots contributed to her self-taught ability of picking up precise skills behind the decks.
Her natural ear for sounds makes djing & production in the studio perfect playgrounds for her creative and electrifying mixing skills. Exceeding expectations every performance, she has been described as one of the hardest working DJs in Canada. So it’s no surprise that Miss DJ Laela has become one of the fastest growing and highly sought after female DJs in the country. She holds many residencies around Western Canada including Whistler, Vancouver and Victoria nights, regular Revelstoke appearances, along with Banff and Calgary shows in AB.
Miss DJ Laela’s talents go far beyond her ability to lay down tracks, as she has been known to surprise the crowd by throwing in her alluring ‘Live Vocals’ over her tracks. Depending on the mood and desire of the crowd, you may catch her on the microphone and you will be amazed on a whole other level!! Her style reflects the sexiest, dirtiest house & electro beats in the club, so expect the dancefloors to be filled from start to end of the show.
She has supported MSTRKRFT, Sam La More (MOS Australia) and played alongside the likes of The Stafford Brothers (MOS Australia, Fox8 TV) and most recently Jamie Vale on a Red Bull Western Canada Tour. She also took the city of Victoria by storm on the main stage/venues at the 2009 & 2010 VEMF (Victoria Electronic Music Festivals), an annual summer festival with headliners DJ Dan, Donald Glaude and Starkillers to name a few. Between the 2010 Winter Olympics/Paralympics she performed in Vancouver & Whistler playing some of the hottest venues including Barcelona (Vancouver’s #1 voted Nightclub VNA 2010) and Gorgomish Afterhours, it was one of her favorite and most memorable tour experiences so far.
With each performance her domino effect occurs, making it’s way from venue to venue leaving one thing in common…a truly positive lasting impression! The result is her bookings branching out further away each time in higher demand. Networking at the highest level whenever and where ever she is has become her signature promoting herself as an artist. Recent exposure into the US market gained her representation on the talent roster of THUMP SOCIETY out of NYC, scouted by Reflex the agency owner and Resident DJ to Red Bull NYC. In Canada she’s signed with Symbiant Artist Management based out of Vancouver/Victoria BC.
Miss DJ Laela illuminates the decks, and should not to be missed if you have the opportunity to see her play. We are sure to see a lot more of this beautiful and talented DJ in the near future.
Born and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Chronikal (Alistair Stewart..or just Al to his friends) has been writing and performing music since age 8, when he picked up his first guitar. While his style has changed since then, Al’s love for the uplifting vocal melodies and savage basslines that get any crowd on their feet has remained consistent throughout.
With his first European tour now complete, and a host of releases on UK record labels (Fokuz, Grin Recordings, Definite Grooves), Chronikal is quickly carving a name for himself in the world dance music scene. Al’s debut release under his DnB alias ‘Nightvision’ achieved impressive support across the UK and Europe, receiving regular airplay on BBC Radio and spending 8 weeks in the Beatport DnB Top 100 chart. His remixes for Definite Grooves and The So Called Scumbags have been heard in a number of Ibiza’s world-famous venues including Space, Pacha, and Amnesia, as well as BBC and other UK and European radio stations. Refusing to limit himself to one, or even two genres, Al’s most recent Dubstep collaboration with Hardcore Beats’ Ed209 under the alias ‘Rough Child,’ is already gaining massive support, with their debut EP scheduled for release later this year on Excision’s Rottun Recordings.
Chronikal’s live sets are much like his original production – diverse, and aggressive. The constant double drops, and seamless shifts between genres never fail to get the dancefloor on their feet, and leave them begging for more when he drops his final track.
Now, having returned to Canada after 4 years in England with an impressive track record of gigs and releases across Europe and the UK, Chronikal is ready to take North America by storm.

As half of the production team OVERCAST SOUND, he has played live sets at international shows including in Berlin, the Biennial of the Americas, MUTEK, and the upcoming inaugural Aguilar Dubtechno Festival in the south of France (September 2011).

Audio Planet even helped to expose some established local artists as well, including Collaborations with Toby Emerson, King Kornelius, Wobble Skankz and more.
Soulfix’ local contribution also has created many opportunities for new up & coming DJ’s to preform locally, with regular events around town in the past year and more to come this fall. Having brought many headliners to the city including, Bass Kleph, Mc Flipside, Will Bailey, Lazy Rich vs Jelo, Paul Anthony, Dylan Kennedy & having thrown countless local events, including a Monday night residency @ the world famous Hush Nightclub with Chi No, Micheal was voted by the public as Victoria’s premier Music Producer & Top Electro DJ, at the first Annual Victoria Nightlife Awards. DJ Klever aka Josh Winkler was born on the fourth of July in 1977, the son of famous blues musician, Juke Joint Johnny. Josh distinctly recalls going to his father’s shows at a young age and listening him jam out on the harmonica. At the tender age of four, he received his very first drum set, a “manimall” Muppet Show kit that he practiced playing until the skins busted.
Josh spent most of his adolescence like any all-american kid: baseball, grinding curbs, and eating apple pie. He lived to sneak out at night and hit Atlanta’s local skate spots where he caught a healthy reputation for his competitive spirit and pushing big tricks.
At the age of sixteen, Josh’s competitive passion for both tricks and music met the almighty turntable and Klever was born. Growing up with a hip hop background, Klever studied djs like Premier, Cash Money, Afrika Bambaataa and Jazzy Jeff for their mixing and scratching arrangements.
In 1997, Klever started competing in every local competition possible where he began practicing with the Third World Citizens - Faust, Shorty, Shotgun, Craze, and T-Rock. In 2000, Klever seized the national DMC championship title and while at the international DMC competition, he was inducted into the world famous Allies crew, which consisted of renowned turntablists Craze and A-Trak. He began traveling the globe a lot with Craze. Shortly after, the two released the cult classic “ Scratch Nerds.” Klever began to produce prominent break record’s for battle djs and producers. In 2001, Klever successfully defended his national DMC title. He then represented the states in London for the international title. Later that year, he also won the national ITF title in San Francisco.
Beyond his accredited mastery as a turntablist, Klever has developed a healthy reputation as “tomorrows dj”. Klever has established his name throughout the dj circuit for his crowd-roaring routines and mix sets. Being born and raised an ATLien, his signature style (on and off the decks) moves crowds in every direction from his roots of crunk, booty, and hip hop to the sweaty sounds of electro, dance-rock, b-more, new-wave, hard rock, and anything worthy to make you rock with finesse.
In the past 5 years, Klever has been performing his signature sets non-stop around the world (Taiwan, England, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Australia, Japan, etc). He consistently amazes crowds and party-goers from 60 to 60,000 at world renowned venues such as Miami’s Mansion, Amsterdam’s Paradiso, NYC’s Roxy and Irving Plaza, Fabric in London, and many more.
He has released several mix CDs obtaining notoriety from culture heavy hitters such as Turntable Lab and Tablist magazine. He also two immensely popular battle break records with DJ SHOTGUN (former dj for Goodie Mob), Dirty South Breaks and Get Crunk Breaks. He has also done remixes for Cool Kids, The Carps, Kill the Noise, Steed Lord to name a few.
Not only audibly, Klever’s skills have been featured in numerous DVDs: the film Scratch (a DJ documentary awarded at the Sundance Music Festival, A-Trak’s “Sunglasses are a Must”, Stanton’s – “Step-By-Step” (instructional), “Tableturn’s - A Great Day In Turntablism”, the 2000 & 2001 USA/World DMC Championships, the 2001 ITF USA Championships, 2002 & 2003 USA and JAPAN ALLIES Invitational All Star Beatdown, and the upcoming ALLIES (untitled) self produced DVD.
Klever is presently working on collaborative projects that encompass the street culture lifestyle through music art and fashion. Between touring nonstop and his dedicated lab time, Klever is the dj to watch.

From Calgary, Alberta, this up and coming Canadian Breaks dj/producer has a love for Bass Culture like no other. Coming from a small town where music had limitations, he grew up on hip hop.. but underneath it all was a yearning for something funky, dirty and broken. After being introduced to the rave scene in his early 20’s, he soon found himself overtaken by the world of breaks. With his love for the music, he started Breakz R Boss Productions alongside brother Mr.Bassline Junk-E. Studying electronic music and its culture for years, 2008 brought new motivation as he created the “Calgary Bass Junkies”, an affiliation of local producers. 2010 only has good things in store, with the launch of Breakz R Boss Records, a new digital label showcasing the finest Canadian and International bass music
Via Hush Nightclub, past gigs and under the alias’ “Fossil” and “Eclectrix”:
A music producer focused on exploring the deeper, rhythmic side of UK Dance Music, Fossil is a resident for Cloudsounds electronic nights as well as for the TXTED Sound System. Hosting a weekly show on CFUV 101.9FM, he spins sets of exclusively vinyl, maintaining the analog format which originally drove the scene. From drum n’ bass to dub-based music, he is positioned to bring deep, rolling rhythm and bass tunes to the Victoria masses in 2012. Keeping one foot in the roots of dubstep while constantly pushing the sound forward, Fossil is not to be missed.
Fronted by the enigma that is :DT:, a visceral crowd-mesmerizing vocal powerhouse capable of hypnotizing thousands of people and holding them in the palm of his outstretched hand, guiding them through the journey that is the Wordclock experience.
Backed by the entity known as Renfield, part man, part machine and possibly of alien origin. Little is known about Renfield, and what is known is rarely spoken out loud. He stands behind his wall of technology and ushers in the soundtrack too humanities utter destruction and de-evolution, setting it too a pulsing, pounding beat.
In short, Wordclock is explosive Post-Apocalyptic Cinematic Industrial music. They will show you the future, for this is 2012, the dawning of a new age, and the Wordclock is ticking like a timebomb, ready to explode.
Heralding from the depths of the Kootenay mountains, Mishadow’s renowned flavor is a blend of funky bubbling basslines that dip in and out of the downright filthy, driven by a coherent tech-house backbone that gets the crowd moving - with absolutely no exceptions.
A fixture and respected DJ in the Kelowna electronic scene, who was asked to play Excision’s former bi-weekly ‘Elevation’ night an unprecedented FIVE times, as well as being resident DJ for the Okanagan’s most respected purely electronic promotional crew ‘Footwerk’; through whom he both headlined and opened for such acts as: Nom De Strip, Malente, Sticky Budz - and although he plays house - has seamlessly played alongside Ill Gates, Glitchy & Scratchy, Downlink and the dubstep phenomenon Excision. Co-hosting an online radiostation and regularly headlining underground raves all through out the Okanagan, Mishadow keeps busy.
Recently Mishadow left Kelowna to pursue school back in the Kootenays before relocating to Victoria, and is looking forward to future dance floors and opportunities to share his irresistible crowd-pleasing groove.

Generating minimal grooves that are unique to Vancouver.
Gonzalez is influenced by dark, creative artists such as Richie Hawtin, Troy Pierce, Gaiser, Ricardo Villalobos, MINUS crew, Nima Saeedi , Siceron and Dj James E.

Since 2010, these guys have consistently destroyed every dance floor they touch. They are regarded for their creative live sets which jump from genre to genre seamlessly, for their original productions and remixes, and for their unsurpassed energy on stage.
They are supported by some of the biggest artists around the world, and it’s no surprise to anyone that many artists regard them as one of the hottest new acts for 2012/2013. These guys are destined for greatness, and they plan on leaving their mark across the world.
Adam Glassco aka “Flinch”, has been in the studio lately cooking up a lot of hot and heavy bass music. Producing since 2000 he got his start in the Drum and Bass scene. Experimenting with different sounds over the years Flinch ended up co-founding an electro group called True Pseudo in 2007. Flinch currently produces dubstep and pretty much anything with a sick baseline and a fat beat.
Most noteworthy are his collaboration remixs with 12th Planet of Jinder’s “Youth Blood” on NYCs Trouble and Bass and Dave Nadas “Appocolypse Theame” wich have been played by such djs as dubstep icons SKREAM and PLASTICIAN to NU Electro bad boys DESIGNER DRUGS and French tastemaker BUSY P. True Pseudo’s indie banger “Freaking me out” also received some BBC1 radio play from KISSY SELL OUT.
Currently Flinch has been djing around the states and gaining some heavy weight recognition from LA to NY. You can expect to hear more collaborations with 12th Planet including a remix for house legend DJ Sneek for SCION A/V , as well as some fresh and original Flinch releases summer 2010 on Trouble and Bass, SMOG , Party Like Us , and Play Me.
K3V (formerly DJ Kev) lives for the filth. With a sound based in Filthy Electro House, K3V constantly blends this with the dirtiest of Dubstep, Breaks, Glitch and even some Drum and Bass to create his signature sound which has been wowing audiences all over North America, Australasia, and the world. K3V pushes the limits of every genre he plays with his heavy, crunchy and filthy sound, and has taken hold of every dance floor he’s play for, making him an extremely popular act wherever he’s performed. Also adding in live PA keyboarding and an unmatchable stage presence into each of his sets, he creates a completely unique and spectacular performance that grabs hold of the crowd and delivers an experience that leaves you craving for more.
K3V has been a featured act at many major music festivals across western North America over the past few years, including Shambhala, Motion Notion and Astral Harvest. In 2009, he toured in Australia and New Zealand, including a very well received performance on New Zealand’s nationally syndicated George FM to a listenership of 65,000+ people, and sets on FBI and Beatz Radio in Sydney to a prime time audience heard throughout the country. Due to this success, he also established his own residency in Sydney at one of the cities’ premier nightclubs under his own BASSIC label, all while receiving huge support by media and fans throughout his time there.
With many innovative and soul-shaking remixes, originals and bootlegs under his production belt, K3V delivers sets full of ‘must-haves’ for both DJ’s and fans alike. Keeping most productions under close guard, he ensures the audience will hear the freshest sounds out there, promising that unmatchable ‘first listen’ feeling.
One of his most widely heard mixes was broadcast to a huge global audience on New Year’s Day 2009 alongside Will Bailey + Calvertron (aka Twocker) and Rudder. The show was again rebroadcast 2 weeks later due to the overwhelming feedback that was received. K3V has also received recognition from electronic music heavyweights such as Calvertron, John B, Steve Murano, Miss Behavin’, Trent Cantrelle, Skool of Thought and Ministry of Sound’s Brian Cheetham. He also has won countless competitions over the years, including a Bacardi sponsorship in 2007.
With 700+ shows under his belt, massive stage presence and a passionate spirit that has taken him to the global stage, K3V produces some of the most amazing live performances out there. Always dropping the sickest, filthiest and floor-filling basslines for his crowds, or creating new sounds not yet discovered, K3V has been labeled by thousands as an act not to be missed, and will be a musical force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Wookie has been in the scene for a lot of years, he knows how to lay down a mean set of hard pumping energetic beats! Having played at numerous summer festivals, including VEMF, you will know when you’re hearing him.
Whether he’s opening for international superstars like Tipper, Bassnectar,A skillz and the Freestylers; rocking a headlining slot at an outdoor party or providing backdrop beats in a local lounge, Generic is the kind of DJ who fully brings it, whatever the gig. His combination of technical skills (the guy has taken several Vancouver Island DJ competition titles), impeccable ear for crowd-rocking tunes and a fun-loving attitude makes Generic (nee Cole Magnusson) one of the Island’s most sough-after disc jockeys. Expect one of his sets to be chock-a-block with broken beats, glitch hop, drum and bass and dubstep—including some of his own tracks, edits and remixes—with plenty of cutting and scratching thrown in for good measure. With skills like that, it’s no surprise this 10-year vet behind the decks rarely goes a weekend without dropping a set
I grew up listening to rock and played drums for 10 years. Once I got into Highschool I was introduced to Electronic music. Soundproof has been throwing high quality, late-night, underground parties for the last 14 years. Their events are known for being intentionally small and intimate in scope, advertised primarily through word of mouth and encompassing a wide range of music that is best described as being hard, but friendly.
Originally a self-professed musical opener or closer, Evan has become a regular peak-time performer and crowd favorite at Soundproof events. He is a regular contributor and member of Area709, a Calgary-based DJ and producer collective and Beheshto, another Vancouver-based artist community. His music is balance between melodic tendencies and a recent preference for more extroverted, slightly dark techno.
Raised in White Rock, British Columbia, Sam was limited to where he could go with his music. He decided to attend the University of Victoria to expand his horizons and hasn’t looked back yet. The Victoria nightlife has much to offer; with this variety comes Sam’s amazing ability to diversify his music and play to any type of crowd on any given night. He Thrives off the energy of the crowd and brings his passion for music out every time he plays a set. His music adapts to the feel of the venue with certain influences such as Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Dada Life, Hardwell and so much more. With a significant amount of experience in the industry Sam has now found his comfort in being an up and coming local DJ that has a lot to offer on any stage.

After an 11 year night shift of DJ’ing countless clubs and parties J-Feud has started to emerge as a prolific producer and re-mixer. Recently accepted as one of the Ginkgo Music family members James has his first release “Risky Bisciut ” due out early this summer. Entelechy describes a vital agent or force which helps direct an organism toward self-fulfillment. From this realm of sonic self-exploration, Entelechy weaves soundscapes ranging from fully ambient and downtempo, thru hip-hop, glitch, breaks, psytrance, trance fusions, and back again. With a background in music theory, composition, arrangement, production and performance, he seeks rich environmental textures as a cornerstone to the myriad sounds and styles telling the stories of our own becoming(s). In a world where the main.stream is clogged up by cash money radio’s river of commercialized beat-structures, Entelechy knows the audiophonic evolution of intentional dance music is a key to the freeflow of conciousness and to our evolving relationships to the planet and each other…
Plus 2 has been making his sound known across the world as a proponent of Midtempo, Skweee and the Glitch Hop genres. From the sultriest of tones to the heaviest of lazer bass vibrations and everything in between. 2010 saw a leap in production skills with massive bass, heavy synths, crisp drums and all manner of mashed up video game sounds. A proud member of Glitch Hop Forum and Stereoshift, this past year has seen him rise to play with some of the worlds leading artists and to packed venues all over Canada. Consistently releasing free music via Soundcloud, he has been featured in several blogs, mixes and articles including Time Warp Bass, Subsynthesis, Doctor Krank, Bomarr and Union Sound. With the release of his feature EP Contra Code on Tycho Records, he has set a standard and keeps rising the ranks of EDM culture.
For Nathan Docksteader aka Natron the fascination and future inspiration for and from electronic music began in the late 90’s after hearing the cutting edge music being played and produced by Sasha & John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and others who were all at the head of the pack, leading the way and focused on the underground sounds of progressive house music.
As his interest and passion for electronic music grew he knew he had to find a way to share this intense emotion and calling with others. The medium of choice was obvious – In early 2003 Natron hit the decks and began DJing with a solid foundation of inspiration and experiences to draw from.
2004 was the year that opened up and further focused Nathan’s life as an artist more than almost any other. Meeting the Moreh brothers (a.k.a. Shiloh) truly helped shape and define the way Natron played music and gave him insights into how he listened to and what he heard in music and further cemented his already firm foundation that has thus enabled him to continually evolve and grow.
Fast forward now to 2011 and feeling incredibly inspired by rolling funky minimal grooves, Natron has taken his musical direction to more of an energetic fusion of organic techno and house, laden with percussion rolls, synth stabs and smooth basslines. With his inherent gift for track selection and programming Natron’s ability to move a dancefloor in one cohesive sweaty groove is unmatched.
With a full schedule of shows on his plate and Natron’s addition to the Sunset Labs team, 2011 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for this committed artist!
I am a DJ/Producer from Calgary, Alberta Canada. I have been DJing since 2002 and have been producing since 2008. I have been blessed enough to have had the chance to hold my own residencies at clubs within the city over the years. I have also been given some wonderful opportunities to warm-up for such acts as Kaskade, Laidback Luke, Mark Farina, Nick Warren, Andy Moor and Chromeo amongst others.
I first discovered my serious passion for music while dancing like Michael Jackson in my parents living room as a kid! It was so much fun and although I may not have fully understood it at the time, it was then that I realized music was the one thing in my life that created that feeling of connection with who I truly am. It would be a number of years later till I got decks but now looking back at the course of events that led up to me starting to DJ I can see how it all fits together perfectly.
I am currently attending Stylus College in New Westminster, BC for music production so keep your ears open for my newest productions and mixes.
