Olav creates a sonic experience with one half rolling, evocative, synthesized soundscapes, textures glimmering through light and dark passages and the complexity of the human voice; propelled by one half skittering, falter-funk 2 Step rhythms.

I began performing primarily as a DJ this year as an opening act for Whitebird events, including “Propa Tingz” and “Grasp the Erro” at Hush Nightclub. Following the event, I was featured in a review by Victoria’s bass music blogger “Dub Selekta” (www.dubselekta.com). So what’s a roots/singer songwriter have to do with Electronic music?
“I started dabbling with records and DJing back in 2003 when I was living in a little house by the beach. We’d have parties on the weekends and hire DJs, pack the place and dance all night ‘til the morning. After one of the parties, a DJ left his tables and two crates of vinyl in my kitchen for a week… so one night I set it all up and started playing. Its been a secret love of mine ever since.
I love the feeling of finding new tracks and creating new feelings through the music, its something that touches a side of live production I’ve yet to find while performing with my band. Its a whole new colour to paint with, and I’m loving the journey.”
Since the mid 90’s this guys has fallen in love with the electronica scene and music!! Soon after began the love and addiction for mixing new sounds and record shopping daily!! As time went on his skill grew and he began rocking house party after house party. As they grew in size turning into clubs within victoria and vancouver opening for names like Vandalizim, dekoze and many more. Also Rocking it on the dialectic stage at soundwave!!! Never leaving a dance floor empty this guy comes out to get the party started right with sexy sounds of house music leaving you with a taste for more!!!
Whether he’s opening for international superstars like Tipper, Bassnectar and the Freestylers; rocking a headlining slot at an outdoor party or providing backdrop beats in a local lounge, Generic is the kind of DJ who fully brings it, whatever the gig. His combination of technical skills (the guy has taken several Vancouver Island DJ competition titles), impeccable ear for crowd-rocking tunes and a fun-loving attitude makes Generic (nee Cole Magnusson) one of the Island’s most sough-after disc jockeys. Expect one of his sets to be chock-a-block with broken beats, glitch hop, drum and bass and dubstep—including some of his own tracks, edits and remixes—with plenty of cutting and scratching thrown in for good measure. With skills like that, it’s no surprise this 10-year vet behind the decks rarely goes a weekend without dropping a set
Played in several metal bands during high school. Near the end of High school, started DJ-ing and producing electronic music. After high school, moved to Vancouver and attended the Art Institute of Vancouver to study Professional Recording Arts. Then started own record label (Club Ammo Recordings) on which we released a compilation EP ft. myself and Elliot Mars. Followed up with several remixes released on various labels through Beatport, Juno Download, and other top dance music download sites. Recently graduated from The Art Institute and am focusing solely on music production and DJ-ing. Solo EP set for release in August and several remixes to be released over the next 4 months.

The Beat Junky, Nick, has always had a love for music and dancing; finding Break Dancing in 1983, he began teaching, and competing on Vancouver Island. With this fueling his passion for the arts he grew to appreciate the many Genre’s of
Electronic music. He began on home CD players in 1995; mixing Techno, House and Industrial, and progressed to turntables in 1996, primarily mixing Drum and Bass on vinyl. He now plays on Serato, joining the modern age both technically and
musically. Harostraight, Emma, has been playing the violin since the age of 10. She received her Bachelors in Music from Queens University, and now plays with the Cowichan Consort Orchestra and Choir, as well as many other small ensembles in the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. She began playing with The Beat Junky in 2008 and has enjoyed the musical challenge of playing a Classical instrument with an Electronic genre very much.
The Beat Junky has played all over Vancouver Island, on the Main Land, as well as the Gulf Islands. With the formation of the Temple of Gong (T.O.G.), a small group of DJ’s that would ‘renegade’ parties, The Beat Junky was able to establish himself as a DJ. The Beat Junky’s genres include, among the many: Drum-n-Bass (Raga, Jungle, Jump-up, Techstep, Hardstep, Liquid funk, Grime and now Drumstep & Halfstep); Dub-step; and Glitch-hop. If it has a broken beat he is not far away! As well as being a full time Dad, he is also a body piercer in Duncan, at Mike’s Tattoos; however Nick will not let life get in his way, for there is a new Beat on the rise, ready for anything that this industry has to offer him. Playing at VEMF, with Harostraight, will be an honor and one of our last performances together before she leaves for Medical School in the fall. Peace and love to all – bring your dancing shoes for this will be a performance to remember! J

After being inspired by the countless local events featuring local and international DJ’s, Matterson decided to take up the craft himself. Starting with the electro craze of the late ‘00 era, he first played parties for Sonica Late Nights and Westcoast Funktions where he learned much about the craft. As time moved forward, he started contributing to regional burning man events, growing into a more mature house sound in the process. Reaching into Funky, Jackin, Deep and Tech areas of House showcases his ever increasing development.

Joshua J Tanasiuk Aka DR SATAN.
Is a fidget/dirty electro dj/producer/engineer originally from Calgary Alberta currently living in vancouver B.c.
6 years of dj’ing, 2 years of producing, many years of love for the music.
Much has been accomplished since Chris Elliott split from Stupid Fresh and introduced the solo project Nom De Strip in 2009. As a producer, he’s gained the respect of the industry heavyweights with Buzz Chart No.1’s. As a DJ he’s played all over the world. Nom De Strip started with a bang and the momentum keeps increasing.
2011 has been a prolific year in the studio for Nom, producing eagerly anticipated tracks over a range of styles alongside Chris Lake, LA Riots, Hatiras, Micky Slim, Will Bailey and TJR, to add to previous collaborations with Bart B More. Recent music has been signed to Dim Mak, Rising Music, Teenage Riot Records and Ultra, and expect a debut album project to be completed over the summer.
So what is the Nom De Strip sound? Known for a blend of styles from electro to techno, dutch to disco, notable tracks include De Piano, Step Back, Bollymore and Skweekee, and remixes of Dizzee Rascal and Oliver Twizt for high-profile labels such as Southern Fried, Spinnin’ and Secure Recordings. Neil Davis aka Neo¹ or Totally, is a rare breed of DJ that has been rockin out speed garage since the Summer of 1999. Within the past few years Neo has been growing his potential producing his own tracks. 2010 presented Neo with the opportunity for his premier release “Destination EP” a 5 track EP release on Atomic Zoo Recordings (Calgary). 2011 is already starting to show alot of promise with one remix released on Backzide Records (San Francisco) in March and 3 remixes for Atomic Zoo released in April & May. Now with 5 originals and 2 remixes slated for release in July-Aug on Backzide Records, Bass Hound Records (Seattle) and Breakz R Boss (Calgary) there seems to be no end in sight for this budding producer. Not only does Neo specialize in warping basslines, he is also fond to breaks, garage, 2-step, funky house, 4x4, bassline house, dnb and dubstep. Neo is also one half of “Funk’n Ruff”, the other half being none other than his best friend Brent ‘d-Set’ Kral. Together they produce mostly speed garage, bassline house and bassline breaks.
Now with 12 years of bassline knowledge behind him, come out and witness Neo with his extreme energy and stage presence animating dancefloors all across Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the Okanagan and hopefully this year the boundaries will be pushed to a new level! He’s sure to make you move your body all night long to his bass heavy sets tuned to the funky sounds of house, 2-step, breaks and garage and the dirty whompy bassline driven beats of speed garage, bassline and 4x4 with the occasional added grit of dubstep and dnb.

Nate Jones has always had a strong love for music. It started at the age of five when he first tickled the ivories, to when he touched his first Tech 12 at 17. This household Victoria name from years gone by spent several years in Vancouver with residencies at numerous lounges, and gracing such clubs as the infamous Lotus. Nate’s been keeping a low profile since returning to Victoria, and has been turning his obsession with music into to something that can be felt on a global scale. He spends his time writing new tracks for record labels and honing his producer skills. He has just finished work on his 5th EP, which will hit the shelves soon! Summer has arrived and it’s time for this DJ/Producer/Musician to come out of hibernation.

Canosis brings his strong passion for hip-hop, funk, and soul to the table, infusing the raw boom-bap hip-hop beats and quirky sample selection.
Born and raised in Canada’s sunny Okanagan Valley, Eric had an early start, experimenting with production software and getting his first set of dj gear at only age 15. Months after he was playing parties for friends, events at local schools and as the years progressed, larger and larger events including clubs and outdoor dance events in surrounding cities. Eric’s work began so early in fact that he was still underage when he played his first club gigs, having to be escorted in an out of the venues so that he could play his sets. Fast forward to today and having picked up and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in late 2007, Eric Allen is now a major power player in the west coast electronic music scene. After landing a residency in late 2009 at Vancouver’s famous Gorgomish Afterhours, Eric’s name began to circulate among the local nightlife elite. He soon found himself rocketing up from a gig a month the year previous, to playing over 50 live shows in 2010, an explosion of popularity seldom seen. Not only did he find himself playing at his residency almost every Friday, but opening for international artists like Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, Max Graham, Marco V and countless others at some of the cities biggest venues. Eric is also a major driving force behind supporting the local dance scene and has always found it important to help give back to the community that has given him so much. As one of the original founders of Vancouver’s over 1500 member strong “Vancouver Trance Family” organization, his work with his “Awake” nightlife brand and club nights and a supporter of new and upcoming talent, Eric is an influential force in shaping the future of the west coast dance community.
Somehow despite the constant lack of sleep, onslaught of live shows and his work in the local scene, Eric also finds time to maintain his own radio show, “On The Dance Floor”. The show, which airs monthly on AfterhoursFM, one of the internet’s most well recognized electronic dance stations, goes out to thousands of listeners worldwide. He is also rountinely requested by various industry elite to lend his talents to guest mixes including a recent appearance on American dance legend Christopher Lawrence’s “Rush Hour” podcast, a dj who himself was extremely impressed with Eric’s talents behind the decks after Eric opened for him in Vancouver.
Now setting in his sights firmly on the studio and original productions, Eric has begun to hone his talents as a producer. Eric already includes countless edits, reworks, mashups and even the occasional bootleg remix in his sets, but the time has come to complete the picture with original work. Having music theory training and studio recording education dating back to his middle school days, the progression is a natural one for Eric and promises to be an exciting new venture.
The last few years have been massive for Eric and the next few promise to be even bigger. Look (and listen) for Eric coming to a club or event near you!

Dan Snakehead has been dominating dance floors for more than decade performing in Vancouver, Salt Spring Island, and for a little while Victoria (British Columbia, Canada). He is a certified Rythme Institute DJ (now school of mix) trained under Dj Marvel in 2004. He was a night club, after hours and house party dj for many years and competed in the Dj Mix Championships by invite aka the DMC’s (Whistler ‘05 and Victoria ‘05, ‘06 placing in all three events).
http://www.thedjlist.com (the worlds largest DJ directory) currently ranks him in the top 20 in Vancouver.
Dan Snakehead discovered his passion for electronic music in 1999 and started organizing electronic music events in 2001. As an amatuer it was hard for him to find work other than spur of the moment house parties or volunteer events that only paid in exposure. He has since played thousands of events from house parties and night clubs to big name concerts and it shows. He has “come up the hard way and paid his dues”.
He can play anything but normally plays Top 40, House, Hip Hop and Club music for night clubs. For outdoor events and massives he switches styles to Electro, Glitch, and Dubstep. He plays other stuff like Speed Garage, Trance, Breaks, Drum & Bass, 80’s, Rock, Metal, 90’s, electro swing, and of course scratch (the guy has invented scratch techniques). He is trained to play on anything : turn tables, cd decks, his laptop, even dvd players or cassette players, he’s so versatile, it’s sick. He says he spends about six hours a night checking obscure charts and researching online so that he always has the freshest tracks when he’s not playing. His creativity shines through in his mixes and his microphone skills, to say he can get a crowd going is an understatement.
In September of 2002 he founded a independant non-profit organization called “Last Minute Productions” dedicated to fund raising for local charities and youth crime prevention in his home town community (Salt Spring Island). Charities in his community like his local youth center, high school, and skate Park are on the recipient list. Last Minute Productions is still a well respected, functioning, non-profit organization in his home town community to this day with a small group of very dedicated vollunteers (reference Nathan Valcourt P.R. 250-537-8809).
The last charitable events he was invloved with “Shake it for the Quake” (reference Mya Hardman) which raised thousands for the Haitian Relief Foundation thru the Alchemi Living Atrs Collective That show dominoed into more events for breast cancer research and other fantastic causes, see Erotica Electronica and The Frightmare before Christmas.

“I have had horrid luck with regards to finding good placement agents, promoters, or really any kind of mutually beneficial situation to settle into” says Dan. “But you can’t give up, you just keep trying. After all, success only come to those who never give up on thier dreams, right?” This dedicated Dj’s dream is of regularly performing at stadium sized events. After September 4th’s “Sound Clash of the Titans” an outdoor massive, Return of the Titans, and hosting the third of the Sound Clash series over christmas Sound Clash of the Santas, this dj’s roster continues to build momentum. Though big shows are his dream, he says he will always crave the intimacy and sense of family with performing at smaller venues. Dan Snakehead has many unmentioned short term residencies under his belt all of which have ended on good terms but is still looking for the ideal sustainable, stable, situation. You can hear him perform live Thursdays on CFSI Salt Spring Radio 107.9fm or listen to live streaming audio at http://www.cfsi-fm.com from 10-12 midnight.
From ‘06 -‘09 he took a break from the dream to raise his son on Salt Spring Island as a single dad and performed for the local pubs. While there he organised more events and performed random house parties and outdoor events.
Pre-dating that he was at Barcode on Broadway (Vancouver) where he played hip-hop, breaks, and drum & bass wednesdays thru saturdays aswell as playing an after hours every night in Coquitlam (known only as the Glen House to a lucky few). Unfortunatey Barcode was closed down due to improper managment.
Prior to that he was the resident DJ at the City Limits Night Club in Abbotsoford where he opened and played with big named acts like the Trews and 2 Live Crew thru the generosity of Rockit-boy Entertainment..
Before that he was simultaneously employed as disc jockey for The Jungle Room and Monty’s Showroom (Victoria, Vancouver Island). At Monty’s Showroom on Wet T-Shirt Wednesdays he was also the Super Soaker Boy. He opted to leave the club due to the non-existant promotional team that is required to make successful nights. Before he left though, he refered the Jungle Room to Mother Bird Promotions (of White Bird Records) who took the nessecary initiative and now The Jungle Night Club is floureshing under the new name.
He’s played with everyone from Benny Benassi to The Sweat Shop Union, his gigography list is endless. Why he dosn’t have more singles out is probably because he’s always performing. Time for some label to scoop him up. He’s got tons of demo’s of really obscure stuff like Celtic Electronica Fusion, Rotterdam, Mash-Ups and Spoof Hip Hop aswell as Quack Hits (his dirty electro series, hear the first of four and his first three of eight Dubstep compilations here : http://www.ravevictoria.com/music/djsets.php?path=/Dan_Snakehead )

With his love for the music, he started Breakz R Boss Productions alongside brother Mr.Bassline Junk-E. John Norman is a Canadian DJ, Producer and Remixer, also acting as A&R Manager for Canadian House and Tech House label 4Play Trax. His sound has been refined over many years of avid pursuit of that which is driving yet laid back, full yet minimalist. The result is a sound unlike any other, filling dance floors around the world.
His quickly growing arsenal of original tracks and remixes now include releases with 7Stars Music, 4Play Trax, UNT! Records, OneWay, EUN, and TMR. His tracks have seen support from international heavy hitters including Roland Klinkenberg, Markus Schulz, Tony Thomas, M.I.K.E, Wally Lopez, Marcella, Anderson Noise, and Jesse Voorn, and after seeing his first track to break into the Beatport Top 100 in early 2012, his sound is increasingly in demand.
Starting out as the kid hauling his huge record bag to open decks, John quickly gained reputation across the Canadian Prairies for impeccable tight mixing blending sounds together for a unique approach to techno, minimal and tech house, but knowing no bounds with his playful track selection. Easily able to headline events with his signature jacking techno sound, or provide suitable warm-up for major international acts, John became the go-to DJ for such circumstances, and has opened for DJ Dan, Preach, Judge Jules and more - a testament to his versatility. With this, he began booking events with an increasing reach around the globe, and within a few short years he was playing the legendary Ministry of Sound. Notable gigs for John include MEME Festival, Gigalum (London UK), Y Afterhours, Toi Bar (Toronto CAN), Chemistry (Minneapolis USA), The Purple Room, Brainfest, and more. 2012 will see him play at the Amsterdam Dance Event and Interfusion Music Summit in Palm Springs, USA.
John has also created a mix series - The Original Language Global Session - to help his sound reach further across the globe. The OLGS has been hosted regularly on radio stations such as puredj.com in Holland, the former CityBeat Radio in Scotland, Undergroundradio.tv and Miami Beatz Radio in the US, and Canadian Techno.fm. In addition, his mixes have been featured on stations from England, Brazil, Croatia, Chile, Bulgaria, and was one of the final featured guests on DJ Preach’s Transatlantic Radio show who stated that John’s “mix of tech house will take you to a place you’ve never been”. Now in its second year, the monthly mix series continues to feature some of the finest house and techno available, and can be found in the iTunes podcast section.
You can expect John to push his productions and DJ sets to new heights as his obsession with sound continues, taking influence not only from electronic music history but also from the everyday and spreading his brand of music the world over.
The Mazeguider has been an iconic figure in Vancouver’s tribal dance underground for nearly 15 years, playing festivals & events throughout Vancouver, B.C., and the Pacific Northwest. With sets that can take people out to the edge of time and awareness, the Mazeguider’s undeniable signature style reflects the sophistication of a music performer of nearly two decades.
As Bruce Lee famously taught how “emotional content” is everything, this description could be applied to the Mazeguider’s mixes. No fluff here. Only the cream of those pushing the edges outwards, mapping the uncharted territories of new electronic dance music that invites & compels us to feel something brand new and unmistakably delicious in our emotions, minds and bodies.
Currently, the Mazeguider’s dancefloor focus plays in the realms of Glitchhop, Glitchstep, Crunk & Midtempo Breaks. However, he maintains a strong hand in Techno, Tech-House, ElectroHouse, Breaks & Progressive, as well as a large range of Downtempo, and can throw down amply in any of these styles.
He has played festivals such as Entheos, Intention, Shambhala, the Oracle Gatherings, Earthdance, as well as events by Perception, Beats Without Borders, Beleaf, Playground and more. He has shared the stage with fine artists, such as Gaudi, Vibesquad, Cheb I Sabbah, Adham Shaikh, Bluetech, Noah Pred, Makyo, Souls of Mischief, and many more. As a speaker on Transformational Festivals he has presented at TEDxVancouver, Hollyhock, Entheos, Beloved, Symbiosis, Shambhala Festival, and more.
To be at the helm of the big stereo, transmitting the frequencies, while the tribe gathers in the time-honoured rituals of celebration, is a privileged place to hold. Each set represents a constantly renewed possibility for the community gathered to rekindle our ecstasy, remember our connectedness and rejuvenate our life-forces. And then, sometimes, it’s just about having the right music for the occasion. Whichever way it goes down, the Mazeguider brings a special, alchemical offering to the mix that is the guarantee of a journey to remember…

James Kuczmarski (singer/songwriter/arranger) was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Kuczmarski has been composing musical pieces via hard drive as DarKsLide, since September 2005. Over the years, DarKsLide has become somewhat of a hybrid in genres, experimenting with combinations of dark ambient, industrial, electronica, melodic instrumentation and effects.
With an overall theme of dark, moody, and introspective elements shadowing over the landscape, DarKsLide aims to create music that will take listeners to a new sonic world.
Growing up with a single Dad and a radio, songwriter/arranger James Kuczmarski developed an overwhelming passion to create and perform music since his early teenage years. After learning to play guitar at the age of 15, he awoke to the local music scene in his hometown (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and got involved. He co-founded and played guitar in several bands throughout his Edmonton years:
Outcast (92-95), Punksure (95-97), and Standing Down (2000).
Kuczmarski first reflected influences of punk rock, metal, and alternative in his playing and writing in bands. Although he is still immersed in these genres, he has reached out musically in a number of different aspects since. His love for many different music styles constantly steers him from staying stuck to any one genre for too long.
In his time away from bands, Kuczmarski promoted other bands and musicians as a band manager and music venue owner/booker/manager. His Edmonton, Alberta - based all ages venue, the ‘Shark Tank’ featured local and touring musicians on a regular basis in 2 locations over 4 years (2001-2005), filling a niche for a scene where both teens and adults could get their live music fix in an underground setting.
Kuczmarski now lives in Vancouver, BC and writes songs in his studio using Ableton Live software and live instrumentation. DarKsLide performed live for the first time in May 2010, playing a Fashion Show in Victoria, and followed up with a second show in December 2010, also in Victoria. In 2010, DarKsLide joined forces with up and coming label Food Sex Records, released a video for his track ‘InVoLunTaRy MuscLes’, and is preparing an album release and more shows in Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver, and California for 2011. DarKsLide headlines his next show at New City Compound in Edmonton on June 30.

Fronted by the enigma that is :DT:, a visceral crowd-mesmerizing vocal powerhouse capable of hypnotizing thousands of people and holding them in the palm of his outstretched hand, guiding them through the journey that is the Wordclock experience.
Backed by the entity known as Renfield, part man, part machine and possibly of alien origin. Little is known about Renfield, and what is known is rarely spoken out loud. He stands behind his wall of technology and ushers in the soundtrack too humanities utter destruction and de-evolution, setting it too a pulsing, pounding beat.
In short, Wordclock is explosive Post-Apocalyptic Cinematic Industrial music. They will show you the future, for this is 2012, the dawning of a new age, and the Wordclock is ticking like a timebomb, ready to explode.
At a young age, I was not interested in music. Like anyone else, I’d listen to the hits on the radio, but was never really inspired by what was popular. One day, at the age of 11, everything changed when I was gifted a magical burnt CD filled with all varieties of electro – from house to trance, from trance back to big beat. In that moment a lifelong quest was started to branch out and discover the very best of every genre. From there, it was only a matter of time before listening wasn’t enough – the need to create was growing within.
As a musician, I believe this passion has led to an eclectic, creative, and exciting style that cannot be accurately contained by any single genre. From one song to the next, I try to bring a new energy, a fresh angle, and a wicked vibe – all designed to tear the dance floor to shreds.
I am a 14 year old boy from Edmonton,Alberta,Canada that has been mixing and producing music since I was 12. I love the sound of heavy bass and love it when the bass is full and the crowd is pumped.
I have been at 1 gig that was live streamed on youtube with the label MonsterCat Media. I have also have 2 other shows over in Bosnia. Although they weren’t the best clubs.
My biggest inspirations are Skrillex, DeadMau5, Tiesto and Feed Me.

DJ WOOD made his name in BC’s drum’n'bass scene, DJing at some of Vancouver Island’s earliest raves and promoting Victoria’s first d’n'b club nights, including debut appearences by old-timers like DJ Phantasy and Kenny Ken. Re-locating to Vancouver in 1999, Wood went on to host “Solar Bass”, HQ Communications’ radio show on Planet Aaj 96.1. He also held a residency at HQ’s “Tecknowledgy” club night where he supported world-class talent like Ray Keith, DJ SS and Bad Company.
After Solar Bass went off air, Wood & partners Link, Silence & Kotekan started their own radio show on the same station. “Sunday Sessions” gained a wide listenership throughout the lower mainland & Vancouver Island, and eventually spawned a club night of the same name at Sonar, Vancouver’s premier night spot at the time.
In addition to Sunday Sessions, Wood was also a resident DJ for “Zwack!” Fridays at Unit 20, an open-format club night where breaks, d’n'b and hip hop ruled the roost. It was here that Wood first made contact with his future collaborator DJ Soo, an aspiring turntablist & fellow drum’n'bass DJ. In agreeance that the drum’n'bass scene had grown stale and unimaginative, the duo launched a new club night at The Met Pub, “Bangers ‘n’ Mash”, that would allow them to explore their full range of musical taste.
After the cancellation of Bangers’n'Mash in late 2004, DJ Wood & DJ Soo were ready to step their game up to the next level. At a New Year’s Eve party called “Mangladesh”, the duo played together on 4 turntables, surprising even the most jaded partiers with their genre & tempo defying set. This set, re-recorded at Wood’s apartment later that month, became the duo’s debut mixtape and has gone on to become a world-wide cult classic. The duo have gone on to play venues all over Canada and support a wide variety of international acts including Stanton Warriors, Bassnectar, South Rakkas Crew and DJ Z-Trip.
The year 2005 saw the launch of Wood’s production career. Spurned by the success of their club nights & parties, local breakbeat crew TwentyHz Music were set to launch their record label. For their debut single, head-honcho DJ Soda chose the tune he had been opening his sets with for the past year - “Bun Dem” by DJ Wood. Wood went on to produce another track for the label, 2006’s “Poppa Large”. His third release, 2007’s “Eye No”, came out on the debut single for the UK ‘Nu Funk’ label Goodgroove Recordings. More releases for the now globally reknowned Goodgroove have ensued, along with a slot at the Canadian debut of their world wide Nu Funk club night “Regrooved”.
More recently, Wood has helped establish Super Happy Dance Deejays, a crew of veteran DJs who are making waves in Vancouver’s after hours scene. On the production front, Wood’s first digital release has come in the form of a remix for Ohio based artist Ruckus Roboticus, released March 2010 on the Dance Or Die label. Continuing his partnership with DJ Soo and as a solo artist, this seasoned performer shows no signs of slowing down!

Mesmerizing, passionate and stunning are just a few words that describe this hot talent in the house & electro DJ scene. Growing up with music was an important part of her life, she was able to truly appreciate the many avenues and genres. Playing the piano and having those classically trained roots contributed to her self-taught ability of picking up precise skills behind the decks.
Her natural ear for sounds makes djing & production in the studio perfect playgrounds for her creative and electrifying mixing skills. Exceeding expectations every performance, she has been described as one of the hardest working DJs in Canada. So it’s no surprise that Miss DJ Laela has become one of the fastest growing and highly sought after female DJs in the country. She holds many residencies around Western Canada including Whistler, Vancouver and Victoria nights, regular Revelstoke appearances, along with Banff and Calgary shows in AB.
Miss DJ Laela’s talents go far beyond her ability to lay down tracks, as she has been known to surprise the crowd by throwing in her alluring ‘Live Vocals’ over her tracks. Depending on the mood and desire of the crowd, you may catch her on the microphone and you will be amazed on a whole other level!! Her style reflects the sexiest, dirtiest house & electro beats in the club, so expect the dancefloors to be filled from start to end of the show.
She has supported MSTRKRFT, Sam La More (MOS Australia) and played alongside the likes of The Stafford Brothers (MOS Australia, Fox8 TV) and most recently Jamie Vale on a Red Bull Western Canada Tour. She also took the city of Victoria by storm on the main stage/venues at the 2009 & 2010 VEMF (Victoria Electronic Music Festivals), an annual summer festival with headliners DJ Dan, Donald Glaude and Starkillers to name a few. Between the 2010 Winter Olympics/Paralympics she performed in Vancouver & Whistler playing some of the hottest venues including Barcelona (Vancouver’s #1 voted Nightclub VNA 2010) and Gorgomish Afterhours, it was one of her favorite and most memorable tour experiences so far.
With each performance her domino effect occurs, making it’s way from venue to venue leaving one thing in common…a truly positive lasting impression! The result is her bookings branching out further away each time in higher demand. Networking at the highest level whenever and where ever she is has become her signature promoting herself as an artist. Recent exposure into the US market gained her representation on the talent roster of THUMP SOCIETY out of NYC, scouted by Reflex the agency owner and Resident DJ to Red Bull NYC. In Canada she’s signed with Symbiant Artist Management based out of Vancouver/Victoria BC.
Miss DJ Laela illuminates the decks, and should not to be missed if you have the opportunity to see her play. We are sure to see a lot more of this beautiful and talented DJ in the near future.
The West Midlands based duo (Leigh & Karl) started music production back in may 2009 when a simple hobby became an obsession. with no production knowlede but the thirst to learn, the guys where thrown in the deep end when there bootlegs got the attention of several podcasts. this then changed a hobby into a carrier.
With over 50 releases on beatport squeezed into 7 months from there first release back in nov 09, these guys just don’t let the speakers cool down!
Refusing to stick to the ‘genre rulebook’ & defining there music as ‘Ecstatic House’ there is never a dull moment with there mind shattering bass & there ever growing need to keep the crowd guessing.
Having huge support from some big names such as ‘Lazy Rich ‘Rico Tubbs’ ‘Will Bailey’ Luvstuff’ & having plays on Radio 1’s ’ Kissy Sellout Show’ the lads really are making a dent in the music scene.
This is one duo that will be around for a very long time!!
Born in Zululand, Morgan Tedder moved to Canada at the age of 10. Calling Victoria, B.C. home since, he began DJing in 2002 and has been in the foreground of the Island drum n’ bass scene ever since.

Space Age, originally from Edmonton, AB grew up with a love and appreciation for all types of music and genres. Transforming this love to DJing, he developed a eclectic style fusing sexy, ethnic, and soulful sounds together combined with technical mixing. His diverse sets range from sultry bellydance and downtempo chill, to dancefloor shaking dubstep and elegant psytrance. With a little something for everyone, Space Age will always get the dancefloor moving.
A pioneering member of the Techno Hippy Crew, Astral Harvest, and Vibe Tribe’s official bellydance DJ, Space Age has played at some of Edmonton and Calgary’s biggest shows including: Beats Antique, Dehli 2 Dublin, Bassnectar, Skream, Freq Nasty, Rusko, Caspa, Glitch Mob, Freestylers, Kush Aurora, Juakali and David Starfire. DJ Klever aka Josh Winkler was born on the fourth of July in 1977, the son of famous blues musician, Juke Joint Johnny. Josh distinctly recalls going to his father’s shows at a young age and listening him jam out on the harmonica. At the tender age of four, he received his very first drum set, a “manimall” Muppet Show kit that he practiced playing until the skins busted.
Josh spent most of his adolescence like any all-american kid: baseball, grinding curbs, and eating apple pie. He lived to sneak out at night and hit Atlanta’s local skate spots where he caught a healthy reputation for his competitive spirit and pushing big tricks.
At the age of sixteen, Josh’s competitive passion for both tricks and music met the almighty turntable and Klever was born. Growing up with a hip hop background, Klever studied djs like Premier, Cash Money, Afrika Bambaataa and Jazzy Jeff for their mixing and scratching arrangements.
In 1997, Klever started competing in every local competition possible where he began practicing with the Third World Citizens - Faust, Shorty, Shotgun, Craze, and T-Rock. In 2000, Klever seized the national DMC championship title and while at the international DMC competition, he was inducted into the world famous Allies crew, which consisted of renowned turntablists Craze and A-Trak. He began traveling the globe a lot with Craze. Shortly after, the two released the cult classic “ Scratch Nerds.” Klever began to produce prominent break record’s for battle djs and producers. In 2001, Klever successfully defended his national DMC title. He then represented the states in London for the international title. Later that year, he also won the national ITF title in San Francisco.
Beyond his accredited mastery as a turntablist, Klever has developed a healthy reputation as “tomorrows dj”. Klever has established his name throughout the dj circuit for his crowd-roaring routines and mix sets. Being born and raised an ATLien, his signature style (on and off the decks) moves crowds in every direction from his roots of crunk, booty, and hip hop to the sweaty sounds of electro, dance-rock, b-more, new-wave, hard rock, and anything worthy to make you rock with finesse.
In the past 5 years, Klever has been performing his signature sets non-stop around the world (Taiwan, England, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Australia, Japan, etc). He consistently amazes crowds and party-goers from 60 to 60,000 at world renowned venues such as Miami’s Mansion, Amsterdam’s Paradiso, NYC’s Roxy and Irving Plaza, Fabric in London, and many more.
He has released several mix CDs obtaining notoriety from culture heavy hitters such as Turntable Lab and Tablist magazine. He also two immensely popular battle break records with DJ SHOTGUN (former dj for Goodie Mob), Dirty South Breaks and Get Crunk Breaks. He has also done remixes for Cool Kids, The Carps, Kill the Noise, Steed Lord to name a few.
Not only audibly, Klever’s skills have been featured in numerous DVDs: the film Scratch (a DJ documentary awarded at the Sundance Music Festival, A-Trak’s “Sunglasses are a Must”, Stanton’s – “Step-By-Step” (instructional), “Tableturn’s - A Great Day In Turntablism”, the 2000 & 2001 USA/World DMC Championships, the 2001 ITF USA Championships, 2002 & 2003 USA and JAPAN ALLIES Invitational All Star Beatdown, and the upcoming ALLIES (untitled) self produced DVD.
Klever is presently working on collaborative projects that encompass the street culture lifestyle through music art and fashion. Between touring nonstop and his dedicated lab time, Klever is the dj to watch.
I started using FL studio and other trackers since high school and have since incorporated more software and toys into the mix including analog gear and Max/MSP. Walker and I were in a few bands and became a duality in 2007. Haven’t looked back since. We’ve been lambasted on CBC, spun on college radio and headlined youth music festivals up island.
With big beats, tube guitars and epic vocals we’ve played over twenty club shows and have opened for various touring acts. We’re also Victoria’s upcoming premier party band having rocked the Cooked Street University for the Study of Rad Phenomena and CarpetLand, a satellite state of the Ministry of Casual Living and oft pumped by Maven’s Vintage.
Whether it’s his fresh face, fresh beats or fresh attire, it’s hard not to notice Neon Steve. Hailing in from Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island; Steve is quickly making his mark as one of the West Coast’s top DJ/Producers. At the fresh age of 22, his list of accomplishments has already grown to be quite impressive. Wether it be his infectious live act (that recently seen him take 1st place in the 2010 Hush DJ Challenge), or his ability of being able to craft ass-shaking tunes in the studio, It’s no surprise he’s had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the worlds top acts (A Skillz, Rusko, Krafty Kuts, Featurecast, Jack Beats, Boy 8 Bit, Nick Thayer, the Freestylers, MSTRKRFT, Freq Nasty, Pimpsoul, Fort Knox Five, Deekline, Farace, Parker, Mat the Alien, Busta, Stickybuds, J-Roc, and Ed 209 to name a few) When you get this guy behind the decks you can expect a high energy blend of everything from Disco to Drum and Bass. Matched with some precise cuts and clever personal edits a plenty, Steve has certainly developed his own brand of party rockin’. With a touring schedule in 2010 that took him around B.C. and Alberta, gigs at major festivals like Soundwave, VEMF, and Rifflandia, a remix for Jpod’s label (Swing Set Sounds) and some Bootlegs that quickly hit the top of the Hype Machine and Soundcloud charts; Steve is officially warmed up. Off to a running start in 2011, Steve has already got a Vinyl release on the U.K.‘s Bombstrikes Label, as well as a release on Jalapeno Records, Rottun Recordings, and Canada’s own Punchout!. With support from the likes of Excision, Datsik, Featurecast, Pimpsoul, Fort Knox 5, Stickybuds, Busta, Slynk etc etc… It’s safe to say the future is indeed very bright for this guy—they don’t call him Neon Steve for nothing.
Using strange techniques and savage track selection, Mr. Majestic’s sets are often a bizarre event, resulting in complete mayhem. He’s been pinned as one to watch in the near future showcasing interesting mixes and swaps between genres in his unpredictable sets.
with 3 years of experience on the tables, Mr Majestic is a very technical Dj that throws down a combination of Electro, Dubstep and Disco in an manner that can only be described as “Devastating”. With the intentions of mass destruction to dance-floors everywhere, there’s no stopping Mr. Majestic’s onslaught for global domination

NEIGHBOUR….. Matt has lived and breathed music since he busted out the cradle. At age 5 he would cajole strangers with his beloved ukulele, progressing onto guitar and bass as time went on. After learning to play saxophones in the jazz band and plying his trade as a music teacher throughout high school, he moved on to Mount Royal College where he took part in the Jazz Studies program on guitar. Through it all, Matt developed his recording skills alongside his instruments, learning on the classic four-track Tascam and moving onto serious multitracking and computer sequencing. A strong love for Funk, Soul, and Disco developed as he worked at local record stores and sure enough, these elements are ever present in his Groove-Drenched productions. These days, when he’s not producing or teaching music for Home Breakin’ Records, he spends his time playing gigs around town with various bands, DJing, and digging for the next break to transform into Funky Black Gold.

For Nathan Docksteader aka Natron the fascination and future inspiration for and from electronic music began in the late 90’s after hearing the cutting edge music being played and produced by Sasha & John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and others who were all at the head of the pack, leading the way and focused on the underground sounds of progressive house music.
As his interest and passion for electronic music grew he knew he had to find a way to share this intense emotion and calling with others. The medium of choice was obvious – In early 2003 Natron hit the decks and began DJing with a solid foundation of inspiration and experiences to draw from.
2004 was the year that opened up and further focused Nathan’s life as an artist more than almost any other. Meeting the Moreh brothers (a.k.a. Shiloh) truly helped shape and define the way Natron played music and gave him insights into how he listened to and what he heard in music and further cemented his already firm foundation that has thus enabled him to continually evolve and grow.
Fast forward now to 2011 and feeling incredibly inspired by rolling funky minimal grooves, Natron has taken his musical direction to more of an energetic fusion of organic techno and house, laden with percussion rolls, synth stabs and smooth basslines. With his inherent gift for track selection and programming Natron’s ability to move a dancefloor in one cohesive sweaty groove is unmatched.
With a full schedule of shows on his plate and Natron’s addition to the Sunset Labs team, 2011 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for this committed artist!
As 1/4 of the group Define Audio which is currently signed to Rottun Records. Beatsmith is also known to drop the funk real hard in his solo preformances. He is a very well rounded producer who plays and produces everything from liquid drum & bass & funk to heavy bangin breaks and mid tempo tracks. He has upcoming releases coming out with Critical and Hedrok currently pursuing the mid tempo funky bass genre. With other 6 years of beat making with experience in running his own hip hop studio and having produced beats for many rappers and even a few albums he is very interested by the hip hop influenced ghetto funk sound and wishes to pursue it to his full extent.

With over 13 years experience mixing dance music live, organizing events, and running large sound systems, Dew has experienced a large variety of dance floors. Utilizing his sensitivity to emotional atmosphere and groove, DewDrop’s sets are a journey carefully guided through many moods and genres depending on the crowd. I’m the guy behind East Van Digital & Fresh Baked DJs…been dropping tunes since ’98 and have been a Shambhala resident DJ since ’04, having played many a memorable set in the legendary Fractal Forest. Heralding from the depths of the Kootenay mountains, Mishadow’s renowned flavor is a blend of funky bubbling basslines that dip in and out of the downright filthy, driven by a coherent tech-house backbone that gets the crowd moving - with absolutely no exceptions.
A fixture and respected DJ in the Kelowna electronic scene, who was asked to play Excision’s former bi-weekly ‘Elevation’ night an unprecedented FIVE times, as well as being resident DJ for the Okanagan’s most respected purely electronic promotional crew ‘Footwerk’; through whom he both headlined and opened for such acts as: Nom De Strip, Malente, Sticky Budz - and although he plays house - has seamlessly played alongside Ill Gates, Glitchy & Scratchy, Downlink and the dubstep phenomenon Excision. Co-hosting an online radiostation and regularly headlining underground raves all through out the Okanagan, Mishadow keeps busy.
Recently Mishadow left Kelowna to pursue school back in the Kootenays before relocating to Victoria, and is looking forward to future dance floors and opportunities to share his irresistible crowd-pleasing groove.

Matt Dezine has been bathing in drum and bass for over ten years, seeking out a fusion of sexy dark funk and developing a penchant for hard bass and kicking ass. Skilled at fighting off attacking velociraptors while throwing down some of the hugest drum riddims you’ll ever hear. Holding down a three year strong monthly at Hush nightclub as one third of the cataclysmic Dreadsteppas has minted his technique to a razors edge. Sonically forging together an new breed of sound, this beat juggernaut isn’t afraid to do things differently in the studio. Founded in Sun Peaks, British Columbia in 2011, Two half robot minds collided, one as a student, one as a teacher, to create an earthquake-like energy. D-FUNKT, (Koric) holding 25+ years of musical experience of all kinds, shared the art of mixing music digitally with newcomer DJ CRASCOURSE (Lange). Shortly after passing on the skill of mixing and partyrocking, D-FUNKT & CRASHCOURSE as a duo, began playing live dj events together. It wasn’t before long that the energy created by these two started becoming more and more ridiculous and entertaining. After multiple shows played together, a few beers, and a couple smashed ideas, “Perv ‘Stache” was born. “It’s always nice to see the DJ’s dancing as hard as the party people on the dancefloor..” is something that’s said and appreciated about Perv ‘Stache. These two electronically influenced men are here to deliver straight goods, laughs, witty punchlines, and so much bass it would make any fisherman jealous. If your opportunity comes up to party with these two sleeze machines, grab them a drink, flash them a smile and a high five…you’ll be friends forever. You might even get to go for a ride in their van after the show…..
Started getting involved with music since 1993, first playing guitar in a couple of metal bands in Mexico, then shifted to amateur trance producing and since 2002 mixing psytrance at various private parties at Mexico.
Since 2010, these guys have consistently destroyed every dance floor they touch. They are regarded for their creative live sets which jump from genre to genre seamlessly, for their original productions and remixes, and for their unsurpassed energy on stage.
They are supported by some of the biggest artists around the world, and it’s no surprise to anyone that many artists regard them as one of the hottest new acts for 2012/2013. These guys are destined for greatness, and they plan on leaving their mark across the world.
Elevenn Seraphim is a unique musical experience. It is a ferocious blend of dubstep, glitch and hiphop. Using the classic formula of DJ and turntables, Elevenn uses conscious darkness slathered on psyche shattering beats to save the masses from their bleak everyday lives. Seraphim is the result of a powerful individual finding the beauty in the struggle and using every watt to ravage every ear within range. Living on the edge in Victoria BC, she has been given a divine right to do this.
Elevenn is almost too much to deal with. As a DJ, she is personally responsible for ushering in the Dubstep scene in Calgary. Having found her soul in the sheer filth of Dubstep in 2006, while most other DJ’s were busy growing hair in strange new places, Elevenn made it her personal mandate to pwn the scene’s largest parties and give the kids something fresh. Born and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Chronikal (Alistair Stewart..or just Al to his friends) has been writing and performing music since age 8, when he picked up his first guitar. While his style has changed since then, Al’s love for the uplifting vocal melodies and savage basslines that get any crowd on their feet has remained consistent throughout.
With his first European tour now complete, and a host of releases on UK record labels (Fokuz, Grin Recordings, Definite Grooves), Chronikal is quickly carving a name for himself in the world dance music scene. Al’s debut release under his DnB alias ‘Nightvision’ achieved impressive support across the UK and Europe, receiving regular airplay on BBC Radio and spending 8 weeks in the Beatport DnB Top 100 chart. His remixes for Definite Grooves and The So Called Scumbags have been heard in a number of Ibiza’s world-famous venues including Space, Pacha, and Amnesia, as well as BBC and other UK and European radio stations. Refusing to limit himself to one, or even two genres, Al’s most recent Dubstep collaboration with Hardcore Beats’ Ed209 under the alias ‘Rough Child,’ is already gaining massive support, with their debut EP scheduled for release later this year on Excision’s Rottun Recordings.
Chronikal’s live sets are much like his original production – diverse, and aggressive. The constant double drops, and seamless shifts between genres never fail to get the dancefloor on their feet, and leave them begging for more when he drops his final track.
Now, having returned to Canada after 4 years in England with an impressive track record of gigs and releases across Europe and the UK, Chronikal is ready to take North America by storm.
